car - 95 atx 3.2,155k mileage, my check engine light flashes when idiling, does it on and off for awhile, then flashes repeatedly over and over for about 6-9 times then stalls out,it stalls out while driving constantly...recently put it brand new battery, alternator, water pump and fuel pump and also a cold air intake..which wasnt put on to an exact fit, weve been thinking the intake could b the cause of the problem but any input on this would b great..

could be, I had the mas off my 94 atx thing would not stay running for crap check engine light was full on. I neutral dropped the thing at 4krpm about 8 times and it just wouldn't stay running under load. FYI If the check engine light blinks that means don't drive the car, there is a major problem if its stays solid on that means problem get it checked out but its safe to drive the car still. Id try cleaning the mas and or maybe swapping it out with someone else o a spare to see if it helps. Oh and fyi the 94 i neutral dropped had a bad trans and only worked in one gear so i was just having fun:rofl:

Vacuum leaks on EFI cars can cause incredibly bad idle problems; basically, you allow unmetered air into the intake, which throws the air/fuel mix off. The EEC is expecting a certain amount of air in the intake (based on what it's reading from the MAF) so it provides a certain amount of fuel, but the leak is allowing more air into the intake, and you wind up with an overly lean mixture.

When my mechanic found the leak on my T-Bird SC, he went around spraying the intake/intercooler joints with carb cleaner (maybe brake cleaner; it was 13 years ago, after all) until the idle smoothed out.
