Well yesterday 8-9 my 96 just passed 250K. At the last oil change I sent a oil sample in and it came back with a note that its clear to run it another 250K.:woo-hoo:

So I guess keep on driving it until the wheels fall off.

Excellent! :)

Very good news. As mine is no longer a daily driver, I doubt I will ever get that high, but considering how the motor has run for the first 200k, its my guess that these engines are, once the cam sprocket problem is fixed, pretty hard to hurt. They seem to just keep running excellently provided you keep up with maintenance. Congrats. :sun:

Nice. So what do they base the test on? All motors are gonna get hot this time of year and cars this old will have particulate to some degree. What oil and filter have you used? 3k? 5k?

Dang, I still haven't hit 200k on my second SHO, and my brother's is still at 120k. Guess we're doing pretty good for it being 15+ years old.

The oil sample was sent to Blackstone Laboratories. As for oil & filter, I use the cheep stuff (like pep boys) 10/40 in the summer and 10/30 winter as for filter always Purlator L30001 and a change every 3K.

I have had the SHO since 3/05 and 147K on it. the Cams were welded 2/06 at the same time the plugs and coils were changed. nothing on the top end of the engine has been touched since then.
