hey whenever my car is below 1/4 of gas, it takes ecessive cranking in order to start it. It seems to not be getting any fuel. The entire sending unit in the tank is completely new. If i cycle the key a few times it seem to help it start. Does anyone have any ideas now the sending unit is replaced?

Did you also replace the fuel pump or only the sender?

Have you measured fuel pressure yet? That is the only sure way to tell what is going on in a fuel delivery system.

Okay the problem is still there. But not only on low tank. I notice it mostly when i drive to work and the car sits in the sun and i try to start it for lunch break (about 4 hours later). I am not getting fuel. The pump and all tank internals are new, as well as the fuel filter. There is no pressure at the rail. It cranks about an excessive 10 secs. Then the gauge shoots up and the car starts perfect. To me it seems that the fuel pressure is bleeding off and its like the whole fuel line drains back into the tank. So the time im waiting is for the fuel to be pumped from the tank through the line to the injectors.

Where does the fuel go. Isnt there a check in line to presserve the fuel in the lines. I beleive its in the tank right about the pump correct.

I dont think the injector is leaking it cuz if there was that much fuel in the cylindar it would smoke on start up and it doesnt.

Any thoughts?

Fuel pressure regulator maybe? One thing a bad FPR can do is cause hard starts.

FYI, the regulator sits on and connects to the fuel rail.

Try cycling the key several times to RUN then OFF then back again before hitting START. See if it fires that way.

There is a check valve in the fuel pump.

Yes cycleing the key a few times does work. I have replaced the fuel pump so i have replaced that check then.

You still think this could be a fuel regulator problem even if it runs perfect once started?
