well I lost at the track to a supercharged 05 cts v by 1.5 cars. Hope downpipes will make that up. Anybody running unleashed downpipes?

Downpipes is not going to make up that big of a difference! Maybe that with full exhaust and upgraded turbos & meth then you'll probably tie or maybe edge out that CTS.

Everything was untimed he did tell me his sixty was a 1.79 which I can't touch. His shifting left a little to be desired. He said he generally runs 8.20's. We ran one more time but he red lighted and I cut .140 light and he got me by about the same. I think I ran 8.41 at 82.6 on the clean one. We both had similar rts. Mods are unleashed 3 bar 170 tstat and drop in air filter and plugs of course. Downpipes on the way from torrie. I'm really hoped the downpipes help to get the 60s down to a 1.85 range

1/8 mile track. He only got me by 1.5 cars and typically runs 8.20sNo chance in **** against him 1/4 mile.his midrange was unimpressive. So what I'm asking is can I hope to gain 2 tenths from the downpipes.

Yo Tony, my 60 is not quite as good as yours but my 1/8 is better. My car is a Lincoln MKS which is even a bit heavier than your SHO. Have you sent any logs to Torrie so he can tweak your tune? I think there is more potential with your tune. My tune is from Livernois but I know there are some quick Torrie tuned SHOs after some data logging.

+1 here. Look at the trap speed of the OP vs other slips, 82 mph vs 85 mph. Clearly his car isn't running as hard as the other vehicles as those speeds should be much closer if his car was running as hard as the others.

Yes, heat and humidity are not your friends at the track. However, I have no doubt that Torrie can find you another 2 tenths.

Torrie is quite familiar with tuning for an e/85 mix too...that little mix could be worth a couple tenths.

I run sub 8 second 1/8 miles all the time...I definitely think it's in there

SHOnUUp4,
Since you brought up that E85 mix last year I have been doing it every fill.
But I was unaware Torrie can tune for that! I know Livernois is against the use of a drop of E85 but my car runs fantastic with it!!!
Any idea why they don't advise this?
I'm going to do some data logging next week and send it to Torrie, and with this knowledge I guess I should mention the fuel blend too.
Let's hope for some solid results!

My guess would be...that our systems aren't designed for the corrosive attributes that come with e/85 and the inconsistent supplies of it at the stations (varying levels).

The answer is simple. The EcoBoost is already a fuel starved platform. Using a fuel that is ~40% less volumetrically is only going to exacerbate that deficiency. Why add insult to injury by using a fuel that we have proven can lead to failure? Your vehicle is not a flex fuel capable vehicle. So, there is nothing inside your vehicle or its fuel system that is rated to store or flow such a corrosive material.

You're going to need more than DPs to make up one and a half car lengths.

However, hanging with (or beating) a V-series of either generation is nothing to sneeze at for any type of vehicle. Let alone a 4500lb, 6 cylinder family sedan.
