For the amount of money you would invest into a system to spray the cooler, plus constantly monitor/refill it, you would be better off installing the upgraded IC and wouldn't have to worry about monitoring or refilling it.
Already have a nitrous system with three full bottles sitting around. I would only use it for racing in Mexico.

Hopefully a wet system? In-tank pump is also out of steam around 500 whp.

Larger snails, built engine, an HPFP and other goodies would certainly get you there.

But that would be thinking logically...not investing into a constantly bleeding horse instead of fixing it logical...but logical

*cough -why spray a cooler- cough cough*

I had 1-2 shift issues, never 2-3 like some others. I did have hesitation issues on the highway when it was cooler out. Logs are new to me but I logged my LMS tune before swiching to the GH tune. With the LMS tune fuel pressure dropped like a rock, GH was double rail pressure in the same weather. The GH is nicer in day to day NY traffic.

I only ever heard about 1-2 shift issues (myself included) I never know there were more!

Long-term carbon buildup.

We've actually seen the opposite on this. We moved away from the 170 stats as they were too cold (opened before 170) on most platforms. this is why our 160 was released. the stock stat is a 177, and on paper the 170 seems to be no different. but we were seeing temp drops of over 30*, which at first glance might be positive, but we found the cars were happier with a 160 that truly opened at 160, and dropped the cars the intended 15-20*. so while a 160 sounds "colder" it actually gives the desired temperature drop we're looking for.

Interesting....

The 160F I purchased from you failed this week... stuck open... about a year old so I’m sure it’s not warrantied at this point.....

Stock is 180F according to the actual thermostat...

I had the 170 reische in my 2010 for years without issue... and never saw unwarranted drops in temps...

Love the generalization here "Most Platforms".. how about THIS platform.. the transverse 3.5L Ford Ecoboost? Not some random platform generalization... if you haven't seen it on this platform then why bother posting? Or is that LMS engineering at this point? "Well.. we generally think this will work.."

I started this thread and as noted I have become unhappy with LMS and my issues - but for about 4 years my LMS tune worked great. I still have the 3-bar, Windstorm CAI, and 160 thermostat I bought from them in 2014 - no issues. Unfortunately, your thermostat took a dump, this happens sometimes.

Oh I’m not upset about the Tstat... sucks but it’s only a few bucks to replace...

I’m just commenting on the generalization they provided... and to my point... they are the only company that recommends the 160F... they must have some super secret lab testing proving what no one else in the tuning industry understands...

But I digress....

That was a deflection about carbon buildup LMS. You actually agreed with me in that case. The 170 thermostats we sell drop almost exactly 10 degrees from stock and are the same design as stock. The sho likes to run around 187-190 degrees with the stock thermostats and 178-180 with the thermostats we use with the fans running 100% on a 80 degree day.

How fast does carbon build up? Has running 160 for 4 years harmed OmaHahn's engine or other LMS customers engines of similar or longer history?

No as long as it is run in anger long enough, often enough, it shouldn't be a problem.

I am very sorry to hear about the thermostat. I've had one in my own personal vehicle for years so I can tell you this is not a common occurrence. If it's over a year old it is out of warranty unfortunately. If you'd be interested in getting a replacement let me know and I can always speak with management to see what we can do to help out.

Also if you guys are still running the v11 tune and have any issues with the 1-2 or 2-3 shift type of stuff there's an update we released a while back now that should take care of those issues. Please PM or email me your info including the tuner serial and I'll make sure you guys are up to date with the latest updated tunes.

Remember we originally sold the 170, and it definitely did not drop only 10 degrees. Most cars would never get warmer than 170, which made us look into the thermostats a bit more. We found them starting to open far before the advertised 170 temp, which explained why the cars ran colder than intended. As for carbon build up, no, 10* cht has little to no impact on carbon build up. If so emissions tests would happen at high engine temps only. Something that hasn't been the case in over 20 years. But are there other things at play with engine temps being too low? Absolutely
