I'm at a loss for words at this point. Gearhead gave me a tune with more power and it runs perfect in all weather (temps) conditions - no missed shifts, no WOT hesitation, etc. It is possible for a plug & play tune to work perfectly!

Its probably a marketing sceme they are using because every reply they give on here has to say about their hpfp or dialing down power. Which isnt even needed for their 93 3bar tune v11. No doubt the pump will help though

The reason is is that they have treated the symptom and not the disease by reducing the amount of fuel being used by the engine which can cost you an engine. Im not sure why people are okay with this or do not think we know what we are talking about when we have been doing this for almost a decade and have always been known for our in depth knowledge when it comes to these vehicles, all of that does not go away all of the sudden. There is no "magic" fix for this that can just be written in the tune causing the issue to just go away, it is still there just being hidden by making changes that can overall negatively affect the vehicle.

Not being argumentative and all due respect, this makes zero sense. What symptom? All GH did was provide me a plug & play tune just like all the tunes I've gotten from you. GH doesn't know me, they didn't know any of my issues. I just emailed them my mods and they created a tune for me just like you guys do.
So how do you have the audacity to say GH is doing this and doing that and will blow up my engine??

Because they are afraid of real tuners

Because we know these cars inside and out and why they are having these issues, we know the ways around it too but unlike other companies we do not tend to tune around problems because it is not the right way of doing things. Imagine how our customers would look at us if we started doing the things that everyone else does to avoid problems? The reason people come to us for tuning support is because we are not like other companies and we have been doing this longer than anyone else for these ecoboosts

Subjectivity at it's best. Our way is the best....considering the problems we are having.

It does make sense. He clearly stating the GH tune is leaner than the LMS tune. LMS does not consider the A/F ratio that your GH tune has to be safe in a Ford 3.5L EB engine. Therefore, the LMS tune commands more fuel, and "symptoms" like yours happen when some cars can't deliver enough due to variances in the mechanical parts of the fuel system. If you are running the same boost on both tunes, the GH tune is clearly running a leaner A/F if it's not running out of fuel, but the LMS was. There's no magic here.

No it doesn't . Running leaner doesn't mean they're avoiding a symptom. That's asinine! Its their way of tuning just like their much better shift points. Go over to my thread LMS vs Gearhead Tunes and read one of the more recent posts with a link to a full review of Gearhead. And no matter which forum or Facebook page I'm on I've never heard a bad thing or issues with GH unlike a number ood other tuners. And what does a richer or leaner tune have to do with anything? Completely missing a shift, basically going into neutral and red lines.....is not running out of fuel pressure, engine was screaming and accelerating just fine then boom! Lastly, people running unleashed tunes aren't having this problem, so please tell me how Torie is blowing up people's engines? AJPturbo tunes aren't having issues so tell me how Brad is blowing up their engines? Joke!

You are correct. I have noticed many flip flops with LMS just in the past 10 months.

With v11 there have been many issues. Dangerously low fuel pressure. They claim theses are out of fuel on a hopped up 93 tune at 60 degrees. So they command for more fuel "because they believe that richer is better". If they believe the system is overtaxed, then why is V11 asking for even more fuel and more RPM?

We also know that running these engines "rich" does create more deposits on the intake valves. LMS for many years said the SHO did not need a catch can. I have believed since day one they needed a CC. The first thing I did to my car was add a CC. Low and behold, LMS now has a catch can for sale, and they believe the SHO could benefit from it.

With V11 there are shifting and trans issues. Some guys reporting it sounded and felt like the trans "let go or exploded". LMS shifts their tuned cars higher (when there is zero benefit ) the car is already way past the powerband approaching 6K. More RPM, more time in the dead unusable power zone, more wear and tear under WOT, you catch my drift. I have never had a issue with my transmission shifting, low fuel pressure, or high reving. My fuel pressure stays stable, my shifts are crisp and quick, and my car shifts between 5800 and 6000 rpm. Just because you have always done it that way, and you have access to proprietary Ecoboost knowledge, doesn't mean you are right.

I believe my AJPTurbo tune is better. Period. My car on the E30 tune only (K&N drop in, and 542 plugs) makes more power 391/470 then most full bolt on (intake, full exhaust, T-Stat, LMS tuned) SHO's and that was in 90 degree heat here in Phoenix with the stock heat soaked intercooler. My car is faster then most LMS full bolt on SHO's. 12.56 @ 108, that was with a boost reference line that blew off, and the throttle closing. The car 6o footed a 1.77 and usually goes 112 in the 1/4. So realistically it could have run 12.3X at 112 full weight, 1/4 tank of fuel, and a 250lb driver if things were kosher tune only.

So is anyone aware of documented engine problems from GH or AJPTurbo tunes? Or is that just the marketing pitch by LMS? I am personally not aware of any engine issues with GH or AJPTurbo, but that doesn't mean that there are none.

Perfectly said, thank you!!! I laughed at one point because you are SO correct, these small turbos have useable power low in RPMs but let's smash them as high as we can! Wow.

When Brad was tuning my Continental, I kept pushing him to make bigger changes and be more aggressive. I even jokingly told him "if it blows up, we'll get another one." He would have nothing to do with it. I found him to be ultra careful with all engine parameters. It took some time and some of the changes he made were small, but we got a tune that was quite effective and safe. Based on my experience, I cannot imagine him taking chances with fuel pressure, shift points or anything else.

I have not heard of one engine failure with either tuners (AJPTurbo or GH). SSI is a different story. It took me months to decide which tuner. LMS was a front runner, until I saw their device, and they only offered a plug and play tune. Brad checked all of the boxes for me. I love the LiveWire TS+, I like the fact I can datalog and see what my car is doing, communication between me and Brad is prompt, and I love the way my car performs.

I did the same thing Bruce. He was reluctant and we came with compromises. When I lost my trans, the first thing I said to Brad was. "Damn! It broke and I wasn't even acting like a fool. However the owner of the paper plated 392 Hemi SRT 8 charger was ****** a couple of miles before!"

A big part of the experience for me with Brad was that I learned a lot. I would send him a log not knowing exactly what it was telling me. He would go over it and explain what it meant and what he thought we should do next. Since no one had ever tuned a 3.0 Continental, there was a bit of trial and error but the error was always on the side of safety. I will always be appreciative that he was the ONLY tuner in the country who was willing to tune my Continental. He even got SCT to support it after I had failed to do so and other tuners told me to forget it.

There is one customer with GH that has a blown motor, however, it was discovered that the engine had very little oil in it which was not a tuning issue, but a customer maintenance issue.

My motor on my 2010 detonated due to a stuck injector, however, my motor was not running at 100% after the experimenting I did with AJPTurbo. Brad and I worked closely on a lot of stuff, and my SHO was a test bed for a lot of his work. There were some dorked tunes he sent me trying to figure out some things, and after one particular tune, I had a bottom end tick that was steadily getting worse. It was shortly after that one, that I stopped working with AJPTurbo... and I was one of his biggest advocates. I still recommend him from time to time.

There is at least one guy on Facebook who blew a motor shortly after loading the V11 tune from LMS..

In any event, I think its a bit misleading to say no one has blown a motor, etc etc etc..

I hope GH chimes in about the running "lean" comment... as I don't see how running 12.05:1 is considered lean? I suppose it could be considered "leaner" than the 10:88:1 that LMS commands.

AND FOR THE RECORD, YAYCANDY IS THE SAME TROLL FROM BEFORE. JUST CHANGED HIS HANDLE FROM CURTIS "*********" MCNAUGHTON...

I've had problems on pump gas running richer than .8 lambda because the cats get too hot too quickly due to lack of timing that can be run on premium pump fuel.. The inferred temperature modeling has its share of problems on this platform.
