I cut back a section of the insulation under the cover and put reflective tape... seems to have worked.

Would it have been too hot otherwise?

The Livernois pump sits up higher than the stock one. There is a foam surround covering the stock HPFP, so there was never any contact between the HPFP and the insulation under the engine cover. I have no idea if the Firestorm pump would melt/burn the insulation on the engine cover but being as ford didn’t intend them to touch for whatever reason, I decided to cut it back. Didn’t want to chance catching fire going down the road... I have no clue how heat resistant the insulation is. Better safe than sorry... but it has not warped or melted the engine cover the way I have it sooooo who knows.

Better safe than sorry for sure. I believe the foam was for sound deadening purposes.

Absolutely it is, if anything it keeps more heat on the pump on. I just didn’t know enough about insulation on the back of the engine cover to trust it not to melt.

It seems more cosmetic than anything . I suppose it keeps some dust off it but i would think for cooling it would be better left off as compared to holding in heat .

Dunno.... I leave mine on.
