Where are some likely oil leaks on the SHO's that are notorious for freaquent fixes?

Front Main Seal, Cam Seals, Valve Cover Gaskets, Rear main seal, Oil Pan Gasket, Oil level sender Gasket... To name a few.

Where is the oil level sender gasket and is that one of the freaquent ones that we, as sho owners, have to worry about?

it's screwed into the back side of your oil pan, and i've never personally seen em do more than dribble a lil bit.

Usually it's the sensor itself that leaks, not the gasket. After completely rebuilding my 3.2 with all new gaskets, that's where I get a small puddle on the floor during winter storage.... from the sensor itself!

Would y'al say the cam seals, cps seals, front main seal and valve cover gasket are the seals that tend to be changed more by sho owners?

Yeah because the rear main has to have the tranny dropped and that's a PITA. Sam's post sums up the majority of leaks. It can leak at the oil filter housing to the block and other places, but the usual suspects were covered.

Is it a big PITA to drop the oil pan? I was just wondering with the limited space between the cat and pan.

THIS is the biggest PITA ever. I just did rod bearings and that was the easy part. Getting the Y pipe off w/o breaking a stud is difficult to do if it's never been off or if it's been a long time. I wound up breaking a stud, finishing the work I needed to do, and had it towed to an exhaust shop where it cost me $150 to get the old studs out and new one put in. I need to do bearings in this 89 I bought, but the whole Y pipe effort makes me want to avoid it.

I've never had a problem dropping my Y-pipe. The hardest part is unplugging the o2 sensors....of course I have a Cali SHO :wave:
The SHO will leak anywhere where their is a gasket. It would be much easier to list the ones that rarely leak: Headgaskets.

I think I have my chased down to the front main. The reason I thought it was coming from higher up is because I think oil is hitting the timing belt and getting slung all over the place from there.

The thing with mine is that, I cleaned it off to find the leak butvI can't tell where it's coming from. The only thing I could say is, I see oil on the rear motor mount and It's dropping from the front underneath the lower coolant hose and rear motor mount. But that could be from the oil dropping and being pushed by wind back. I just don't know and I need your help finding it guys.

i bet if you took your timing belt cover off, you'd find oil all over the front of your engine...that's how i came to the conclusion that it's my front main.

Lol...both of y'all sound convincing but whats the likely hood of each in this situation? When sitting I don't see a concentration of oil underneath the main seal, its scattered in a straight line in the front. Thats why its so hard to determine the exact location.

start with the cam seal...it's easier.

It could also be coming from the power steering pump, that is also in the area and prone to leaks...... unless you are SURE it's engine oil
