It's a strange noise, it's not really what you would call loud, but it is a very noticable whine or roar when going about 25-30 and over. It's almost like it is echoing up to the front when I drive, that's why it's not really loud, the car moving is amplifing the noise. It gets louder the faster you go which makes me suspect it has something to do with the wheels and not suspension. As you get going faster, it will get a little louder but after 60 or so, it will stay about the same noise level. I just replaced rear pads which rules out brakes rubbing. I put newer tires on there and it didn't get rid of the noise at all. I took the hub off and spun it to check for noises and loose bearings but it checked out fine. I don't know for sure what it is. It sounds pretty bad when driving, it does seem to be getting louder recently and I hate for something to break on me before I can fix it. Could a bearing still be bad inside the hub despite my checking of it? It sounds more like it's coming from the right rear. Could a rim cause this noise? BTW, I checked both front wheels for bad wheel bearings and tie rods and they check out great. Thanks for any info.

when i had a bad front wheel bearing, i did the checks for it and all was fine. the bearing could be dry but still intact.
