Its time to start thinking about next year and upgrades for the 89 Black SHO.
My Proposed setup:
Gen III Subframe
Aluminium Subframe Bushings
Custom 1/2 Aluminium Solid Motor Mounts
Reduced over-all weight
Gen III Front Sway Bar 22mm, 26 Rear Combo for neutral setup
16 x 7.5 Wheels with decent tires (TBD down the road)
Custom Strut Tower Braces Front/Rear
Subframe Connectors
Front Suspension:
Moog CC858 Coil Spring
915 lbs
142 lb/in spring rate
10.38 inch ride height
SensaTrac
Rear Suspension:
Moog CC839 Coil Spring
426 lbs
141 lb/in spring rate
12 inch ride height
SensaTrac
My aim is to produce a slight rake in ride height, and a fairly stiff setup to limit body roll. You may ask why not Ebiachs...? Just don't think there worth the $200.00 besides is there really a difference between the Moog and Ebiachs? Based on Kenny's (NotSoSlowSHO) writeup they seem pretty good and should be very stiff.
I choose out of the two sets of Moog springs to put the stiffer in the front, and the less stiff in the rear.
What are peoples opinions of this proposed setup?
Remember the weight of the finish product should be in the 3000lbs range. This car will never be loaded with luggage.
I also can cut weaker coils off the Moog springs, but I want to remain with good suspension geometry, plus the Sensatrac prefer near stock ride height. While lower would be nice for center of gravity this will be a street hotrod car primary. Setup for ultra stiff track would not be optimal for the street conditions.
I am also open to custom fab of other suspensions from other cars of near similarity...
Thanks
