Quick update....I've been working on these on and off for about a week and a half. The front is installed and I think I have them adjusted to my liking. I finished the rear passenger last night and I hope to finish the rear driver tonight or tomorrow. While I worked on them, I've done a lot of other things too:
New front brakes (had to replace a stuck pin/boot)
Coolant drain / fill
Transmission drain / fill (funny story - I accidentally pulled the cv axle out which led to this one)
Air filter clean (why not? it's already out for the tranny fluid)
PTU fluid replace
And I'll eventually replace the RDU fluid as well
So, the installation of these entry/mid level coilovers.... I can't say how great the quality is yet as I haven't driven the car with them and I have no prior experience with coilovers, hence why it's taking so long. I think, overall they're good quality, but Godspeed needs to do a better job of checking their parts / packaging and providing some better instructions.
The first issue I had was with the Godspeed sway bar links that came with the kit. They simply wouldn't fit.
The rod was too short to fit through the hole on the coilovers and bolt them on. So I bought a nice set of Maxpeedingrods, which came with extra center sections for more adjustability and have longer rods so I can securely bolt them on. They're technically for a BMW, but I read many comments and people use them for many different cars. It did take some time to get them adjusted properly where I can turn all the way left or right without them rubbing as they're thicker than stock.
Now onto the rear divorced spring/coil. The old ones were much easier to take off and they went on much faster. The issue I had with these were that the factory top hat doesn't fit the threads of the shock.
According to Godspeed there should have been M12 1.25 nuts in the box that I didn't receive and I'm supposed to separate the rubber from the factory top hat and use that with a washer and nut. Luckily I had the Godspeed adjustable sway bar links that I can't use and the nuts are a direct fit. So, with the factory rubber top underneath the car, the factory rubber top hat inside the car, a large washer, and nut, it's well secured.
It took a little time / research to figure out how to adjust the divorced setup. Essentially I adjusted the plate on the spring to what I guessed would be the right height, jacked it up until it held firm, then adjusted the collar on the shock until it felt snug. Then I dropped my jack and lowered it back down until I could wiggle the shock by hand. I then adjusted the shock again until it no longer moved. Then I preloaded the shock by jacking it back up slightly, and adjusting the shock once more to that level.
I'll measure the adjustments I made and duplicate them on the other side. Then I can put the wheels on, drop the car, and see how I like the ride height. I haven't tightened any of the collars on any part of the coilovers yet. When I feel like I've made all of my final adjustments, then I'll snug them up (with a screwdriver / hammer as Godspeed recommends).
