Sergio's team "red rocket rat nest revival" finished in 6th place, and he told me no one could pass or out run the SHOs on this track.

Team "zip tie" finished 28th and won the mechanics hero award for changing the engine over night.

Team "El Toro Loco" finished 36th they replaced the transmission over night and Murphy thinks they burnt up the clutch after they had replaced the tranny.

Pics and vids will be posted when the guys get home and uploaded.

Congrats on a great weekend. I was a little worried with the Saturday posting on Jalopnik, where Nick Pons said it looked like a grenade exploded in the SHO pits. There are a couple great photos in an album out there. One looks like one of your guys is either praying to the engine or having a "sit down" talk with it in the parking lot. Actually I think he was installing a timing belt, but the photo is great. Unfortunately, I can't get to the photo album from work.

Again, great job.

IIRC, this isn't the first time a SHO team has won a "most heroic fix" award for a blown engine before... what the **** are you guys doing to these engines? lol

You have to remember these are $500. SHOs and they are $500. SHOs for a reason. Some of these cars have sat in a field with weeds growing inside the cars, and old gas in the tanks. The engines got the sh*t beat out of them for two days of racing. You take a 17 or 18 year old car then beat the crap out of it racing it and sh*t breaks, even one that's been taken care of still will break parts racing it.

Yup,

Well maintained and babied cars these aren't. Our car had 1" deep mold and other fungus growing in it, and it still has a few mouse carcasses under the injector rail. Thankfully they stopped smelling foul at the last race (love that dry desert heat).

Again, awesome job on the race:salute:

The car was driven 300 miles to the track, raced for 750 miles on the track, then driven back home. The ac even worked! The track surface is like the roughest, coarsest asphalt you've ever seen. I can't imagine racing a bike there and going down, there aren't leathers thick enough to save your ass. Three of Dunlop Z1's are wasted, more front negative camber is needed on this car.

We finished 14 laps behind the leaders, had a 15minute penalty for going off track Sat and that put us back to 15th. We were running 9th before that happened. On Sunday we ran balls to the wall, no chance of getting the Peoples' Curse. We were dive bombing cars into the turns passing every chance we got. We posted the second fastest lap time(1:31.2) after the cheating spec miata #2(1:30.2). This track is perfect for the SHO, really lets it stretch it's legs. 5th place was 1lap ahead of us, so almost a top 5! Too bad the other SHO's had major breakdowns, if not we might have all been in the top 10.

Maybe next year they will do it earlier before the temps get too high.
