Zak, you're not going to believe this but the brakes are stock 89 10 inch jobs. We never had brake problems in the other 2 races. We are debating using 96 brakes. I have them on my other 89.

I believe it. I was trying to figure out how you were going thorugh pads that fast on a wet track! This explains it.

For you guys that are thinking about doing Lemons, it's not as easy as it looks.

I'll second that. We had a very good team and were running 6th right up to a little over an hour to go when we had a mechanical failure that put us out. Even then we were so far back from the leaders it was comical (i.e., the gap from the leaders to about 5th and 6th was huge). The top few teams didn't miss a beat, ever, on anything, and that's tough to keep up with. You really do need to have your act together to beat the top guys. We were happy in our first event to do as well as we did, especially since it was the car's first time out other than a couple of test sessions.

So huge kudos for the first SHO winner. Don't do it again too quickly or SHO's will become penalty magnets like the E30s.

We never had any pad brake troubles the 2 races we used Porterfield R4 pads. They last the weekend but not enough for another race.

I just don't want the weight of the 96 rotors. Maybe I'm being stupid, I could rob the ones off my other SHO. Then see if we like it at New Orleans.

I highly doubt you'll notice the difference in the weight, but I bet you'll notice the difference in performance.

IIRC I have a never-used set of R4s on 598 backing plates (just double-checked, yup). Let me know if you want a deal on them. I bought them ages ago for my silver car and put the Baer's on it before I had a chance to use them.

I ran a bunch of sets of R4S pads on previous SHOs. As they say right on the invoice, "not for track use", or words to that effect. I did use them for track days, and liked them. The probably with two of the front sets were that, after two track days, both had cracked the pads right down the middle.

It was worth it for me for mostly street driving with a couple of track days, but I would stay with the R4 pads for track use. I remember discussing it with Sergio years ago, and I just never got around to trying the R4. Dust and noise on the street never bothers me.

Sergio figured out how many laps they led, 134 out of 328 total. That's amazing!

That's right. We led the last 100 laps, from around 11am til 3pm.

I'll see if I can find a picture of the trophy. The bank took the 15 boxes of nickels. Brought them in on the wagon we use to haul the fuel jugs to fueling area. Each box of $100 weighs about 25lbs.
