This Saturday another LeMons race in Houston. Looks like 4 SHO's are entered. RRRR, El Toro Loco, Team ZipTie, and Live Oak Nudist.

The weather looks to be sunny, low 90's and humid. With all the rain we've gotten this week the mosquitos will probably be swarming.

We are worried about how many penalty laps we will get from winning by 5 laps in Dallas. We are bringing plenty of bribes to help reduce the laps. 5 laps would basically **** any chance to win or maybe even a top 5.

We will try to post an update Friday night and Sat. Of course Jalopnik will have updates too.

The ringer gets to race again?

Oh yeah. But how many penalty laps will they get? I think the Judges are on to them. I know other teams, MR2 guys, Integra guys, 240Z team, are on to them. They told me they could hear the engine sounds different than the other SHO's.

I worry that the Nudists will think we(the other SHO teams) ratted them out. Could be interesting....

Who gives a crap they were ratted out? They are racing a purpose built track car bought off Ebay. I was half tempted to email Jalopnik the for sale ad on that car.

I'm not saying don't cheat in LeMons, the racing would be not nearly as fun if there was not a little shenanigans going on...but to buy a full blown Track SHO to race at lemons? LAME.

Yeah, that's very lame. What's sweet is when they get beaten by a true LeMon, which is likely. People's Curse might come into play as well, which would be interesting.

What I find cool about these events is that good teams can lead and win with a car that genuinely fits the LeMons spirit. It's way more about the team and how they prep and run the car than it is about the cars.

Yeah, there's cheating, then there's cheating. That is the latter. Everybody cheats, but there's a line.

Apparently all the yuppies down in Jupiter are all upset over the Lemons race coming here in December because of it's offensive theme and logo.

The LeMon's organizers said that our SHO is what a LeMon's car should be. And they also said everybody is cheating, after all we are racers and racers cheat. Some cheat more than others.

Yeah Kelvin, LeMons is changing the logo and the name of the race. Damn Cubans can't take a joke.

Off to the track. It is hot today! And humid. I bet it won't be much cooler than the Dallas race was.

It will finally lose its virginity on that day, it'll be so funny watching the keepers scatter to try to keep it clean.

todays SHO results of Lemons Houston

RRRR finished 3rd today in the 24 hours of Lemons today at MSR Houston. El Toro Loco got their best finish to date, 7th place. Zip Tie blew another engine yesterday, they replaced it over night but I don't know how they finished. I didn't get any reports to how the ringers (nudists) finished.

Yes, female dogs, 7th place! We did good. Zippy had some mechanical issues after they swapped engines Saturday night and DNF'd. RRRR made up at least one of their 4 penalty laps to grab a well deserved 3rd. The nudie's 1st driver got 3 black flags Saturday morning, so they had to park it until Sunday morning. 4 black flags in any single day, and your car goes on the trailer and you get to leave...

Heat was a major factor. Tony actually passed out for a second on the track, and I basically collapsed after getting out of the car. 40lbs of ice into the cool suit cooler from now on, and Tony needs a cool shirt. Can't wait until the next one!

We did the best we could with the cards that were dealt us. The judges gave us a 4 lap penalty for winning last time by 5 laps. We bribed them and only got one lap knocked off. They were giving us the 3rd degree, why does this SHO never blow up? I said we use Valvoline racing oil. They didn't like that answer much....

So we raced Saturday to 4th place, still 4 laps down. The leader a Mitsu. Mirage. Sunday, one of the cars ahead of us broke, an Eagle Talon. So we finished 3rd 2 laps down to the Mirage. 1 lap from the Saturn SC1.

ETL ran well all weekend and got their best finish 7th. Zippy, still blowing up motors, not sure why. They put a motor in Sat afternoon and started on Sunday. After an hour or 2 they came in with some broken wheel studs. They forgot to tighten the front wheels after the motor swap. Basically that was the end of their day. The Nudist were 74 laps down because of the black flags Kerby said. On Sunday they were just cruising around.

It was blazing hot all weekend. No telling how much weight we all lost.

Sr 72 18ibnwp5gqu5bjpg Thought I put a update to this post ....... I was the one who sold this car to Live Oak ..... and I thought this post on my facebook page is a ftting end to this car

About 10 years ago I built a race/track ready Taurus SHO. It was a 1989, the lightest and Ford's first year model out.
This car had suspension upgrades, solid subframe bushings, had a posi differential vs the stock open differential from a company called Quaife from England. The car was completely gutted lighted with a full roll cage. The engine was a 3.2 ported and polished with race cams and custom valves and Josh T's adjustable sprockets. The engine put out closer to 300 hp vs the 220 stock ... this car was a endeavor of love from me. I have been involved with these cars forever. Bought my first Taurus SHO in 1990. I have owned several , and went into the SHO mechanic business, had several SHO part cars that I paid storage for and would have several SHO customer cars in my drive way at at our old house at any given time. But my favorite of all time SHO's was my race car. Due to my work as a Finance manager and I hardley ever used the car my wife said

"hey put it up on ebay and see what you can get for it .... put some stupid price so it wont sell but you never know"

Guess what someone bought it. See there is a race series called Lemons race series( cars bought for under $500) and the chumpcar race series and this guy who owned a nudist colony( live oak nudist colony) bought the car from me.
I have always followed the racing adventures this car went through .... it was pushed harder than I could ever do so and I hadnt heard any news of it lately so I called the owner of the resort, Larry Hildebrand yesterday and he returned the call and advised me that he gave the car still in one piece with lots of spare parts to one of his workers. It still drives and the worker enjoys driving it from time to time.

SO I guess this is a Eulogy on my 97 car that I never should of sold and do blame certain people in talking me into it .....

may my 1989 Sr 72 Taurus SHO # 97 rest eternally in race heaven
