Probably the first case I have heard of a SHO engine with bent valves LOL. Anything is possible I guess! Could all have originated from "stickiness" caused by carbon buildup, did they provide any feedback on how clean or how dirty they looked?

Very interesting.....

Once they get it fully apart and send me a quote ill talk to the mechanic. But the owner said the ecoboost engines that gm top engine cleaner is the best cleaner for the valves and injectors

I dont know man. Its a spray right? Maybe just use it instead of crc turbo and valve cleaner. But maybe use it right at that hose hole right infront of the throttle plate so it dont directy go into turbo. But ive seen crc turbo cleaner work wonders. Its way better than ceeeeefoam and brake cleaner. Its like the water remover of carbon buildup cleaner. Where does it put it???? The world may never know

Thats all they told me. Engine is toast because scorched cylinder wall on cylinder 2. And they are not sure what caused it. But i kinda gotta trust them. They are one of the best performance shops on the east coast

Scored cylinder walls can be caused by thermal break down of non changed oil.....

Yea with my 10k mile oilchanges on a car i push hard didnt help. 5k$ for used engine with 40k on it or 5200$ for a new engine. Were my options. Id rather a new engine. I can take care of it better. I usually swap in new engines. Just figured a new bulletproof ecoboost could handle the abuse. Still beleive changing oil every 3k miles would have avoided this all. Gotta have the turbos checked out also. Hope the blades are alright

I dont know though. They said the other 5 cylinders look brand new still. He told me something had to get in there to cause it. I didnt see it so i dont know if its a worn spot or a trashed spot but he said its well past a rebore. He said something got in the engine. I have him looking at that stock noisemaker. It went bad like a day before this all happened. Why my post originally starts with the noisemaker eliminator. He thinks depending on how that noisemaker is made, however it broke. May have gotten sucked into engine if there was something to break off inside of it

I dont put the mileage on you do...but Walmart has the cheapest Mobil 1 oil period. 6 quarts and filter (motorcraft, mobil 1, K&N) whatever is usually less then 40 bucks. I change my religiously at 3k no matter what. Since my trans is being rebuilt, I will probably drop 5 quarts out and put 5 back in every oil change as well.

Another reason I am paranoid about that damn noisemaker....

I kept pushing off replacing it with the ecopowerparts pipe. I guess i was too late. Was literally a day before the pipe came in the mail. The noisemaker was just a big boost leak. Felt like.....like.....like......the 3.5l duratec no turbo. And then it started to misfire on cylinder 2. So when you stomp it in 1th and it does a 4 wheel burnout and you get codes for overboost and the noisemaker busts......the motor may have made the bust also

Every engine design comes with limits. Truer than ever with modern engines as they are purpose built to a price point and govt restrictions, and ever smaller displacements. Bulletproof only works when you have headroom. Hence bpd's built engine.

Agree. Bulletproof exists less and less. There was a Japanese heyday when their engines were about as bulletproof as anything ever made. Much less so, even for them, now. Complexity is up and quality control is down. Quality meaning reliable to 200k these days, not compared to the old US auto lifespans.

As for oil, that's cheap insurance. I would never go to even 5k with oil and all the other fluids should be considered insurance as well.

Throw boost in and you have alot of room for engine go boom.

Ok guys. Jasper engine in. Taking it easy for break in period. Turbos are stock from old engine. Oh 5k$ installed. Owner gave me a real good deal, pretty much price of the engine. Performance shop said turbos at 70k miles and long periods between oilchanges, its probably better to get new ones. Can i order the atp ones. Livernois told me they are above their safety limit and ill need a better fuel pump. Now the owner tells me the atp turbos will work fine with stock fuel pump on a 15 MY but if i wanna push them to their limits ill want meth or fuel pump upgrade. So what im asking is, did you guys put the atp turbos on without issues with stock fuel pump? Livernois is just money hungry and charges way to much and are to far from me, but thats just my opinion.

ATP will work fine with the stock setup. Just gotta adjust the tune to acknowledge the higher flowing units so less boost is pushed for the same power level, that's all.
