Im having heads port and polished and better valve springs put in. Just for more protection at higher rpm. Im going to have him install larger turbos then stock. Maybe garret 2560 or so. He pushed an sho to 9 seconds down a 1/4 miles. But id have him custom build me a ptu for it first. Maybe get there in a couple of years haha

No nevermind not the 2560. I got a number confused with another number. 2560 is turbo im putting on my miata haha. I dont remember the model of turbos he said. But they are around the same size because of the rear turbo being tight in there. He said it was better than the atp upgrade i showed him. Either way. Thats way down the road. Lots of money and upgrades for a quick sho. Id rather put money into the vette and prochargers

Serious power can't be added to the block without first adding a deck plate like LME does. Only way to do it. Costs, but it's a longterm approach. Now if this shop can do "magic" with the transmission and PTU, that would really help. Coz the PTU is a weak link (obviously), but at the end of the day, so is the torque converter and probably 3rd gear related clutches as well. In the meantime, installing a Sonnax shift kit into the valve body will significantly improve shift feel. A similar kit is sold under the Transmaxx brand, should work just as well.

well they can easily drop the shift pressure a little, and it does not hurt performance at all.

but yes, the kit has been a noticeable improvement on at least the 6F50s it has been used on, and I expect the same for the 6F55. Installing the kit yourself is a bit tricky but nothing insurmountable. A couple of calls with Tech Support usually straightens out the Qs.

Ill look into the kit and maybe have my performance shop do it. Does the tranny need pulled out or is it just in the valvebody?

I may have them add a cooler also to the ptu. Maybe even now while its there and get a ptu fluid change with some better synthetic fluid. Im just not sure if they sell a cooler for that car as an add on. Easier then trying to custom something

Unless you get into the clutches/gears/TC etc. everything is on the "outside" of the transmission behind a main control panel:
TSS/OSS sensors, TRS sensor, solenoid body assembly, and valve body. Time invested to R&R ALL of these is about 4 hours (book).

The cooler is not officially sold by Ford as an add-on part. The PTU either comes with it or it does not. I do believe it is physically bolted onto the PTU, so it may be feasible, but ... IDK.

Anyone try to chrome their entire car to get a lower 1/4 mile time, by reflecting the wind resistance? Just a thought

LOL

Just paint it white. Done.

And since you are in Aerospace, dimple the exterior to actually lower wind resistance.

Like my little miata. I just took out the carpet and beat on the rear panel rust holes to make them bigger and i swear the car got a half second quicker on 0-60mph

Got a call about the sho. They did leakdown test and it wasnt holding any pressure in cylinder 2 on either stroke. So they narrowed it down to mosdef the valves and asked if i ever overreved it and i said yes many time with livernois tune. Sometimes when paddleshifting it would like throw itself out of gear when flooring it hard. So im sure one of those times it broke. They told me valves are bent on both strokes but no sure if its all 4 or not. Either way i told them to fix it and they said they will have it apart but wont be able to repair it till after the new year. So by the time i get sick of the roadster life again (na miata) then hopefully ill have my sho back

Probably the first case I have heard of a SHO engine with bent valves LOL. Anything is possible I guess! Could all have originated from "stickiness" caused by carbon buildup, did they provide any feedback on how clean or how dirty they looked?
