The tranny is slipping and smoking on my 94 ATX. I'm going to assume that it is done, now is it cheaper for me to buy a parts car (it has a blown motor) with a good tranny and swap them out, or put my good motor in the parts car?

Unfortunat;y that's not really an option, it is a family daily driver and my wife needs to be able to drive it

Its most definitely an option! teach your wise to drive a stick! Both you and I know its not that hard, it just intimidates some people. I taught my girlfriend how to drive a stick and she drives my MTX everywhere. Look at it this way. Im guessing you like to drive you car hard (atleast once in awhile) or you wouldnt have a shot tranny, i could be wrong. What costs more? a full tranny, or a clutch. You could even find a 500 dollars beater anything with a manual for her to learn on around the neighberhood! :thumb:

rebuild it then with a good rebuilder. Around 800$-1,2k.

Consider all used ATX to be broken. They are so unreliable , that you just dont buy that used.

I talked to yamaha v6 about going over to a mtx he said it was gonna cost $$$$. We are on a tight budget so I'm afraid I may have to let it go...

If you can swing it, rebuild the slipping 94 tranny. If you can't, just R & R the tranny with the parts car. Keep that SHO alive.

It seems there are a lot of SHO folks out there parting out cars like there's no tomorrow. I can understand this if it was wrecked, rusty, etc... but I don't think it should be done to a SHO with a decient body.
