...but smelling oil INSIDE THE CAR THROUGH THE VENTS probably isn't a good thing. Oh and did I mention that both the Check Engine & Check Oil lights are both on too?

I've had this SHO for 6 1/2 years and it's been pretty good to me so I probably shouldn't be too incredibly suprised that it's crapping out on me now but who ever wants to get rid of their SHO?

The transmission on this car has always had some minimal slipping but today I was backing out of my spot at work and all was fine but...when I put it in D, some strange noises...the transmission wouldn't engage in any forward gears and then once it did there was more noises. After I drove a couple blocks there weren't any more noises but I started to smell oil or tranny fluid or something inside the car when I would stop.

I have a bad feeling that my precious 1995 ATX SHO (The Rare Green One)...is dangerously close to becoming my former car.

Any ideas why I would smell oil or tranny fluid inside?

so should I assume that I have some sort of new leak? I think this SHO is going the way of the Doh-Doh bird.

In my case it's the "dough-dough" bird.

The check oil light (the orange one) - indicates that you need to check your oil! Fill it up. Check it on a level surface with the motor preferably cool. Also, check your tranny fluid with it hot idling in park - fill that up also if it is low.

Now, find out where the leak is coming from and what fluid it is. The SHO is not necessarily crapping out on you - but you can't just drive the thing and not keep oil in it.... Have you changed your tranny fluid recently - or at all?

You also need to scan your codes (you can do this for free with a paper clip) and find out what your CE light is telling you.

How many miles are on your SHO?

I don't mean to be a ***** but...Thanks Dad.

Talking to me like I'm some ******** 3rd grader is totally unjustified. This isn't my first day in a car or my first time dealing with a problem with a SHO as any SHO owner will no doubt understand. As stated in my first post...I have had the car for 6 1/2 years and I think any other SHO owner would be able to deduce that this isn't the first problem. Telling me the Check Oil light is the "Orange One" makes me want to wave my finger, (The Middle One) at you.

More than anything I was posting to share a story as many people do on this board. I only offered up a parting question to see if there was maybe a common problem that had been discussed or stumbled onto before.

Once again...I'm sorry to be a **** about this but I certainly don't need someone to tell me that I need to change my oil and that I can't just drive it until it explodes. Talk to your kids like that if you like but I am not your son so a little courtesy when posting would be appreciated.

By the way...my car has 118k on it. heh.

Just relax a bit, don't let comments from the immature ones around here **** you off. Like was said above you prolly have a leak thats getting to something hot and the smoke is being pulled in the cabin. You should check the tranny oil level and condition like smell and color. Also run the codes see if any tranny errors come up. There is a link in my sig if you need help on doing it.

Whoa. I guess I came across differently than I intended. I was not intentionally talking to you like a 3rd grader. The SHO has two oil lights - which people commonly confuse (one red one for pressure, and one orange one for level), I was simply trying to verify that the orange one was the one on.

I apologize for offending you. This board gets a significant amount of people who don't have common 'car sense', let alone SHO sense. I simply trying to be straight up about what my post was about. I'm sorry if you found that to be offensive, that was not my intent.

okay. No harm no foul. Maybe I took it a little personal since I am having such a foul day with this car. I apologize for popping off at you. I have figured out that it is indeed transmission fluid leaking. There is definitely a bigger problem at hand since I just put it in park in my driveway...yet the car keeps rolling. NOT GOOD. Lots of smoke. 1 word, 4 letters...rhymes with duck. This car is for sale. Make offer...hahaha.

which is what my point was....
it is common sense buddy.... if the Check Oil Light is on..... i mean the first thing that should come to you mind would be.... to check the oil..... :bonk:

I find it funny that you have owned the car for 6-1/2 years... too post something like this....
" Oh and did I mention that both the Check Engine & Check Oil lights are both on too?"

Dont get me wrong, i would like to help... but when it comes to seeing someone abuse a sho..... :nono: then ask for help about thing that should have been fixed...

as it was stated, you more than likely have a leak somewere.... you need to find the leak, determine what the fluid is.... which most of the time is pretty easy.... depending on were you find the fluid...
after you have spotted the leak.. come back and post up about it... we could help you fix the car....
and if the check engine light is on, pull the codes from the computer...

Saleen SHO...It's a funny thing about the internet. Sometimes people just cannot interpret sarcasm. Obviously I was being a smart ass with the whole "did I mention" thing. I don't need your rediculous observations to help me understand when to check and/or change my oil. I have been driving THIS car almost as long if not longer than you have been eligible to drive ANY car so if you could keep your nonsense to yourself junior...that would be much appreciated. Maybe you should help me with some other things like understanding that water is wet and 1+1=2. Thanks a bunch.

Why would you want to be sarcastic about something like that.. then ask for help....

yes, you are right, you may have been driving the car for longer then i have but that in no way means you know about the car then i do.

If you were trying to be sarcastic about something, there are other ways of getting it across... the way you described it was as if you didnt know what it meant....

Look... i didnt want to start shit...
guess it was a misunderstanding....
anyways good luck with the car... :thumb:

like you said your self. its hard to interpret sarcasm on online. so if your trying to ask for help why would you use sarcasm? you dont understand how many stupid people come in here posting very dumb questions. how would they know whether or not your just one of them? they just assumed you really didnt know much and nicely helped you out. grow up dude.
