I used a gopro camera with mixed results.
Sat:
I ran 2 classes on the weekend, IPA and GTM. It was very busy running 2 groups so while bleeding brakes I didn't qualify for GTM ( I'm not after points in this class anyway). I started from the back of the field, the yellow GTM
240z didn't make the start so he goes by to unlap himself and I play follow the leader to get by the silver GTM XR4Ti to move up to 2nd and track down the Blue GTM BMW 325is. The 325 has elec. problems at the end and I get by for 1st in GTM and 4th overall.

GTM1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDW1l5GnV3I
GTM2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C05SwEP_F8g

IPA qualified 12th overall good start but going 4 wide around the outside of turn 1 ....a little bump and I'm mowing grass between turns 1 & 2. I get back on .....2nd to last, and drive through the field to 8th overall.

IPA2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBCmcJQMzm4

Sun: I moved the camera to the upper rollbar to maybe cut down on some of the glare and get a better view of the track, its worse and you can't see anything outside the car. I'll post the start of the GTM race as I get a great start and go from 6th to 2nd around the outside of turn 1 ( again ) and scoop the GTM Integra Type R into turn 2. Theres no catching the yellow
240z, a Porsche 996 in GTO gets by to move me back to 3rd overall and 2nd in GTM. I should have had the camera pointed out the back because thats where all the action was with the Type R on my heels for 20 min.

Sun GTM start: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFtOtjlqFcs

TO MUCH FUN!!:sun:

oh ya .... Greatwhite & Genesho came out to cheer me on.... and yes the CV lasted both races!

I only got to watch the first one so far, but it looks like you were giving it a helluva go! :thumb:

I'll enjoy watching the rest.

Great SHOw!

I don't have any pics to add this time, but I did see Les on the track. His holeshot at the start of the first race on Sunday was textbook. A very entertaining race. The GTO 996 Porsche that ended up second started last on the grid and that was fun to watch too. The proverbial piranha in a goldfish bowl!

Glad to hear the CV held out. Tough, tough car.

Looking forward to September. :thumb:

The car is nicely balanced and easy to drive fast, however I'll be using the vids for educational puposes....2 hands on the wheel to start.:)

Cable shifter.....
I short shift from 2-3 in turn 6, theres a little jump on the exit that will unload ( spin ) the front in 2nd gear and really shock the tires/trans and head for the concrete wall.

Another short shift in turn 8, again you can't put the power down in 2nd, she'll just push. So by taking the shift on corner entry and using the engines torque off the corner onto the front staight you don't loose time shifting after the corner while the car is accellerating.

Other than that most 2-3 shifts are @ 7-7200 and on the limiter between turns 1 & 2, the 3-4 shift on the front straight is 6800 and puts the engine around 5000 in 4th......torque & HP here.

I used to wring the shit out of it, but now using 5-7k has dropped lap times and makes shit last longer too.;)

awesome, ever any dreams to go with a Rod shifter?

yeah 5-7krpm's the engine runs good, I don't see why so many people wind the **** out of them and they don't even have the engine tuned to make power in that area.....

I'm jealous man, I got a real itch to retire the SHO from DD and take it racing....

what was up with the sound i the videos? sounded a little quiet.... I love the engine noise with incar videos, anyway to make them louder next time?

Rod shifters take up room for a good exhaust system, IMO.

The gopro camera has a hi and a low setting for the mic, the instructions said to use low when inside the car but maybe I'll try one vid on hi sound next time and see what happens.
