Torque converter should be on it's way back from gearhead in the next couple days. Manley pistons were delayed due to an out of round issue so glad I never got those but now there is a wait of three weeks Lee at Ortiz has told me.

Oh well..

Going to take off the driveshaft today and take it to my local guru to be turned into a one piece and hoping he can machine down the crank pulley also. So lots going on but mostly waiting!

Once the pistons are in will be having the assembly balanced and then a good buddy of mine is going to be directing me through the short block assembly.

On top of all of that going to most likely head to my grandparents shop so I can use my die grinder and their compressor to clean the ports on all manifolds.

Be prepared for lots of vibrations with a one piece DS.

From others I've spoken with, it's not enjoyable. At all.

Are the DS in our cars known to be weak?

More thinking of it as a safety considering the car has seen over 160 multiple times. I'd hate for a driveshaft failure. Gotta sacrifice some things in the name of performance! Plus maybe it'll weigh less :nut:

Can you elaborate on this? Is this specifically for our platform that others had issues with? If the driveshaft is balanced correctly, I can't imagine it being any worse than stock.

Never seen a failure honestly just know I'm pushing the limits of anything stock
Actually, a fellow who pushed his into the 170+ range in Germany said his DS went kaput. Was planning on having a one-piece CF one made and that's the last I recall hearing from him.

Besides that person (in Germany), there was one other here in the States that had his fail.

Those are the only two I can think of.

Problem with ours, is the sheer length of it.

From what I understand, the length alone is what was the primary, contributing cause to the vibrations of a single DS.9c3597f73093b5691704ab225ca9891b

People don't understand how long our cars are until you work under it lol. The amount of exhaust pipe to make a true dual is around 30'. I'll see what his recommendations would be on it for sure. He's been doing driveshafts for a couple more decades than I've been alive and sounds like he does it as a hobby now a days more so than a source of income lol. One of those good ol boys.
