will an aftermarket deck overpower the JBL system? I just got my SHO and its all original, IM kinda bummed cause theres no CD, but I have a deck in my other Taurus I was thinking about swapping, so its not really a big deal. I just didnt know the ratings on the JBL speakers.

You should be alright... with an aftermarket deck you will get a little extra kick and more clarity... i just recently replaced my sho with a Kenwood kdc319... and it sounds great... i was actually surpised that the stock speakers sounded so well. however, at certain levels my driver side speaker cracks once in a while.. its nothing major. if the bass is too low the speaker sometimes can't handle it.. but its not blown. if your thinkin about temporary you should be alright. i'm happy with mine. Lateron, i plan on putting 6.5 boston acoustic in the doors, and 5x7's in the rear. then i won't worry about having that damn cracking noise. don't worry, if you change your radio, no matter what you should be happy with the result because alost any other aftermarket radio decide to put in will give more power than the stock radio.

The factory JBLs actually can handle some power but need to be crossed over correctly. If you plan on running an amp to them (say a 4-channel) something with around 30-40 watts per channel should sound nice. Be sure that there is an adjustable crossover for each set of channels. The fronts produce great mid and high frequencies and should see no lower than 100 hz to keep them from popping from too much bass. The rear can fill in your midbass with a good 60-80 hz crossover point. All my JBL's are crossed over and run off of an aftermarket JBL GT-360 and each is seeing about 45 watts, and handle it fine.

I agree with all that has been said, but also partially disagree... I Have a clarion head unit, clarion amp for the subs, and am using the factory JBL for the 3 interior speakers. I have component speakers in the doors (5X7 without any mod), and a set of 5X7's in the rear. I also integrated tweeters for the fronts, crossovers are mounted in the rear by the factory amps.... As long as you can identify what is what in the back, yuo can install different speakers, but it sounds like you just want to run an aft. deck, which I know in my car made a big difference prior to putting in the system... GOOD LUCK, I didnt mean to ramble on, just trying to help ya out!
