yup, you can easily unplug the sub to tell if it's the root of your problems...ofcourse your stereo will sound like crud...if it doesnt already.
usually though, you can just hold your ear up to the speaker to here if it's the culprit of your buzzing.
The stock JBL speakers arent all that...i think they're paper cones with magnets the size of half dollars...not meant for bass at all...so a cheapy pair of aftermarkets would be a suitable replacement. or a nice pair if you plan on doing some upgrading in the future
I remember JL audio used to make a 6.5 inch sub...and ran pretty well off the stock sub amp. But i'm sure it's hella expensive being a JL and all. You could always look for a used sub (and box probably) on ebay, or around the forum.
PS, the rear speakers arent hard to change at all, just pry the grilles off, and unbolt the speakers...the subs not all that hard either...the box can be unbolted if you contort your body into the trunk...just dont take all the nuts off at once with your head under the box...it could turn painful. Once the box is out, there'll probably just be a little foam ring which you'd be smart to save, and a few small screws holding it in.
You can always upgrade as well
...sounds
[email protected] i still want a custom MDF box mounted under the rear deck, with a nice 10 or 12 inch (if it fits) sub. The stock box can only do so much...it looks to be made out of recycled milk jugs
