JBL Amp Problem

First off, dealing with my 93 MTX. I have a JBL system. My problem is this; When I bought the car, it had no sound. The radio would power up, but no sound came out. I first started with bypassing the amp with a Best-Buy type wiring harness. ( I bought it 800 miles away and was not driving home without music.) I got sound, but the factory radio was not powerful enough alone to get anything without distortion. I could only hear a trace of music. So, I replaced the radio with an aftermarket unit. I now have sound, and it works ok. But I want the amps to work.

I replaced the amp with a known good working unit. ( I bought it from a good source, who said it worked two years ago when he parked the car ) And I still have no sound when I have the amp hooked up. Bypass it, and I am fine.

I have checked power at the plug and I have 12 volts. I have also tried to run a second ground. Just to make sure I have a good ground. The radio/antenna/amp fuse is good.

I am sorta lost here. What is my next step other than replace the system. I want the amps to power up and I want the sub to work. Other than I keep getting bad amps, what can I try?

Did you remember to run the remote turn on lead to the amp.....it also runs the power antenna.

The power antenna did not work. And I do not think I did hooked the power antenna wire up, since you mentioned it. ( it never did work ) However, I have power at the amp, and I only see 3 wires that have a use other than speaker output. One is the power wire, the second is a ground, and the third is logic mute. What ever that is. The plug goes like this

3-RH Front Speaker ( - )
4-RH Front Speaker ( + )

8-LH Front Speaker ( + )
9-Not Used
10-Not Used
11-Not Used
12-Logic Mute ( what is that )
13-Ground
14-12v Power. That powers up when the car is turned on.

Is the logic mute the remote turn on? Is it muted because I did not use any logic?

Ok, I am fine with that. I do not want to remove the radio to check. I would like to start with checking by putting 12v to the lead imput. Correct me if I am wrong, but the remote turn on, would work just like it does on an aftermarket amp, Right? So if you wanted to bypass your remote turn on, you could jump 12v right to the imput for the remote turn on. That is what I want to try. It was a ba$t@rd to get that radio and I do not want to pull it out just to see that I did hook it up afterall. I think that it would have to run a second power imput to the amps somewhere. Right?

I rewired my head unit so that the amp on wire ran to the power antenna on from the radio and it fixed the same problem.

Pulled the radio and fixed it. I was just being lazy.
