The other day after cleaning out the clogged EGR valve through the throttle body with some Berrymans B-12 Chemtool, my idle speed got stuck at around 2K rpm. I was reving it by hand, let it go and the engine did not drop back down to normal idle speed. I also revved it from inside the car and the same thing happened.

P.S. One of the nostrils apart of the EGR valve was clogged; poked it out with a hanger; drove the car; CHECK ENGINE light still came on; next day and since, no light thumb However, when I did the 'suck test' of the line from the EGR valve the engine didn't drop in rev. Maybe I wasn't sucking from the right line? I no, I should run the codes, right?

You should have reset the idle after fooling with the EGR.

and yes, pull the codes... see what your car is trying to tell you wink

A high idle can also be a sign of a vacuum leak and after doing intake and EGR work, that is a possibility. Check those gaskets and vacuum hoses. You might also see a CHECK ENGINE light and a lean condition if the vacuum leak is severe enough.

Gladly, the Check Engine light hasn't been on in a few days...the first time in months.

Will run codes and check those things out.

PROPHET:
I'd say a vaccum leak,proabably a line for the seconderies,was with mine.
Now, with checking vacuum lines for leaks, is it simply a visual inspection. What all to look for and which line did you find to have the leak?
