So, I am still at a complete loss!! The car is still just cranking, just to humor Ford I put a new computer in and the car still wouldn't start. I also check all of my plugs, they were fried and I had a couple with oil in them, so I replaced all the spark plugs and the valve cover gaskets. I tried to start the car and still no start. I have checked all the grounds, and as far as I can tell they are good, the crank position sensor seems to be good, as when I am cranking the car the RPM gauge is moving. The only other things I can think of are maybe the spark plug wires since a couple were soaked in oil, and if the sparks plugs were any indication of when they were last change they probably need it. The other thing is the battery, I noticed that the battery light never goes off, is it supposed to? Can either of these be possible?

Any assistance is greatly appreciated as I have no clue where to go from here. I have checked and done everything I can think off.

I have not recently, the last time I did I got one for coolent temp censor and somthing else that would not cause this problem, I posted them previously I will go back and see what they were. Will you really get a good read if the car will not even start? I will try to pull the codes tomorrow and see what I get, this is just getting very frustrating.

ok i would think of getting another CPS sensor...if that is usually what causes a no start situation. remember not all quality control techs are that smart...lol

anyways, theres clean oil in the engine, lots of coolant in the rad, an accessory belt on the side, and all wires connected properly (you should double check this too!), then take it somewhere for a second opinion.

yes the battary light will stay on anytime the key is forweard but the engine is not running...you are using battary power.

Out of curiosity, have you tried starting it with the pedal to the floor...or pumping the gas pedal?

I would try this since it is cranking, the rpms are moving, etc. If it does start, you have just eliminated many possible problems if you ask me.

It was mentioned earlier...and havnt seen a reponse to trying that.

When I pull my codes I am getting a 111 - system checks okay. Now I am really confused.

You checked the codes before. When you pull the paper clip, wahtever you use, it will clear all the codes.

The only way for the codes to come back is for the car to start and run until the conditions that cause the code comes up again.

It says 111 now b/c you havnt had it running since you cleared them.

Okay, well I just called Ford to see about some spark plug wires, they want $319.00. I think that a little much, is there any other type of wire that I can get, NAPA has a set for $126 and they are beldon I believe they said, I do not know much about these.

You can get Ford wires from Ford Parts Network for around $120 or so and you can get AC Delco wires for around $50 from Midwest SHO.

Have you verified that the fuel pump is working? Turn the key to run but don't start it, you should hear the fuel pump run for a second. Have you checked that the plug wires are hooked up correctly? There are a few diagrams floating around that are wrong. Does the engine ever try and catch or sputter while starting or does it just crank? Have you verified that you are getting spark? You may want to try running a ground wire directly to the DIS module from the battery. That is a common bad ground fault.

I can hear the fuel pump when you first turn the key on. As far as I know the plug wires are correct, I put them back on the way I took them off when I replaced the plugs. As far as trying to catch or sputtering, it seems to sputter when I am pressing the gas and cranking the car, every now and then it will sound like it is going to catch but does not. What does it mean if it is sputtering or trying to catch?

have you changed the ECT(engine coolant tempurature sensor) ?? the rear one....

this sensor shows the computer what temp the engine is at, by the engine coolant of course.. , and it gives the computer the proper A/F ratio before start up, for the start up...

had the exact same problem with a friends car... changed almost everything.... then he got the sensor.. put it in, and she started up first crank!!!

if you have not changed this, i would recomend doing so...

It sounds like the timeing belt is still not in the correct place. Either that or the plugs are really fouled out. Sputtering and trying to start means that you are getting fuel, air, and spark. Somthing else is keeping it from starting.

The spark plugs are brand new, I just put them in yesterday. My timing belt is also in the correct place. Around how much is the ECT and how difficult is it to put in? I do not know where exactly it is at. I will give it a try I guess, I don't really know anything else to try.

Hydrolocked means there is a puddle of gas in the cylinders. Happened to me when trying to start a Sentra too many times.

um... dont you mean piston???
Yeah, what you said! That's what I get for not double checking my insults :naughty: But it's not like that information would help the mechanic any :)

The ECT is around $15 and is located near the rear head on the tranny side of the engine near the firewall. It has a 2 wire plug and is thread into the thermostat manifold that goes between the 2 heads.
