Is this pressure plate usable?

PP yes, disc no. But if you can afford it, get a new set up.

Yes it is. But its lifespan has been shortened by the wear.
The wear is even. You will not get the full life that the unit had when new, but you will get a lot of service.
I don't know if those fingers are case hardened at the tip, but my guess is they are not.
You could inquire on a hotline for the units if that process is performed.

Maybe

Depends.

The disc looks OK and probably will last. Probably the same for the flywheel.

The throwout bearing had to be bad and is the cause of the wear on the fingers.

The pressure plate wear is a problem and will probably cause a NEW throwout bearing to go bad prematurely. The wear on the fingers is deep enough to not allow complete clutch departure when shifting. If you do decide to use the pressure plate then check for clearance when it is reassembled it must be at least .017 using a feeler gauge between the disc and flywheel while someone depresses your clutch peddle.

Diaphragm clutch fingers must be hardened. The more wear resistant the metal the better. When they do start to wear the hardness can be compromised and wear is accelerated. Diaphragm clutches are much improved over the last 20 years because of better steel alloys. The are used to save room in the clutch housing and because they are cheaper to build. They are still a POS in my opinion compared to other designs.

I'd get another pressure plate and save some misery.

:salute:

SHOnut is playing around with a new design TOB for situations such as the one the original poster has.

Sounds like I should have chucked it long ago. It had about 20-22k miles on it, and came out of my car with I swapped the trans out. No idea how many of those miles had starts where the clutch was ridden a lot - when I got the car, I had to start out in second gear due to a bearing failure in the trans.

I dunno, unless you really like tearing out the tranny for a clutch job, doing new parts to save that grief sounds like a plan........
