Is there something wrong with my steering?

I have not driven other SHO's and I was wondering if mine was shot. When I am driving over 70 mph's on the Highway, when I turn the wheel it seems really stiff. Almost like the steering is frozen up and I have to use muscles to move it. But when I am driving below 70 mph's the steering is smooth as glass. Are the SHO's steering suppose to stiffen up at high speeds?

Not so much that it is hard to turn. The later year SHOs has the variable assist power steering (VAPS) that increased the resistence at higher speeds.

Thanks,

I first thought that it was the alignment was off and the tires were fighting one another for grip. But last week I had a complete alignment done and it still felt weird to me. Maybe becuase I also have a 91 Taurus and it did not drive that way. Thanks again sdpatt.

I have a '94 sho, and I drive it at 70+ more often than I should, it really should not be difficult to turn at those speeds. The power steering tones itself down because at higher speeds the steering wheel naturally gets easier to turn (I've had a few non-power steering cars, terrible to turn the wheel at low speeds, very easy at high speeds). I would recommend trying to find someone local with a gen II to try to compare with
