Is there codes for bad fuel pump or plug cats?

Will a code show up if my fuel pump is bad of if my cats are plugged up? I am planning on buying a code reader today, but would like to know if it will diagnois this problem before I buy the code reader. Thanks

You don't have to buy a code reader to view the codes. The EEC will blink them out at you with the CHECK ENGINE light if you jumper the test connection under the hood. Once again....

If you really want to use a code reader, Wal-Mart has one for about $25 that comes with a manual that explains the codes and how to use the code reader itself. Of course, the GM reader they have is cheaper
