I don't think they're stainless, however, I think I can recall them making a run of stainless Y pipes. It's been a long time... I dint think mine is stainless.

They made them aluminized and had a run or two of stainless for more $ as I recall from way back.

Yes, they made both. I have a stainless one, but I know they made aluminized as well. I know the way to tell is to grind it (don't grind a hole in it) and you can tell by the color of the sparks. I don't recall what color means what, so maybe that doesn't help much....

The only thing that's throwing me off is for 25.00 bucks more + shipping I can get brand new. Idk maybe I'm a cheap ass

New Vs used on one of these really doesn't make a difference unless the used one has been abused.

I have a SHOsource pipe (ive never had a SHOshop so i cant speak for their quality) but the its a work of art and its tougher than ****, id go for the used on and save the 25$ for the gas money you'll need because of how much harder youre going to drive after you install it.

The one I picked up, used on ebay, is stainless steel. An aluminized y-pipe probably wouldn't have lasted too long. :salute:

I have the Shosource equal length Y-Pipe and I would recommend you spend the extra $25.00 and get the new one.
It is built in segments and goes on like a dream. It is stainless and it sounds a bit louder in the passenger cabin.
Overall, it is a great product.

Considering I paid for one of those, then the same again to have it welded, grinded down, and made to look properly, my vote goes to the used shoshop if its stainless.

I installed my unit, and never welded the pieces together. There is enough overlap that there are no leaks where the system mates together. Have no problems now, and when it comes time to take it off again (like for my next TOB), I am sure it will be easier to remove and re-install.

SHO SHOP made both back in the day.

I believe that the best Y pipe is the one from Performance Plus.
