Is my starter out?

Whenever I turn the key, all I hear is a whirrrrrr, kind of sound, near the bottom of the car, doesnt turn over at all, im assuming the starter, sound right?

Is the whirrr coming from the fuel pump? Not sure if you have given enough details to pin point the exact problem. It's quite possible that there could be problem(s) with the battery cables going to the starter. Check for voltage going to the starter. Didn't you post recently saying there was a battery problem that caused the past several month outage? Everything go ok with the battery installation?

Mine did the same thing when my starter died... It whirred at the front/bottom of the engine where the starter is, and sounded like the metal teeth were trying to catch "Clanging sound". If this is happening with you, I'd venture to say the starter is most likely toast and needs replacement... :frown:

Yep, thats about it, as for the battery problem, im not sure, the cables are installed right, I'll just get a new starter sometime this week. Thanks again guys.

hey

grab a wire with two alligtor clips and jump the main power and igintion wire on the start and see if it starts.

I'm not sure how much a new starter will run you, but maybe you can have it rebuilt for alot cheaper. Just a thought.

Yes it does,My starter went out on me when I was in a guys driveway.. I rolled back with the clutch in and popped the clutch out. The car started right up:)
