Hello all; I just removed my malfunctioning starter motor from my Gen1. It has given me at least 12 years of no problems. I have two consecutive "milled" teeth on the armature ring gear preventing contact.
My question is; What becomes of the two broken pieces from the ring gear?
Thanks for any advice.

THis stuff either grinds up, falls off or maybe some fell into the starter opening. The flywheel doesn't enter the transmission or engine so I wouldn't get too worried about it. Even if a tiny bit somehow migrated to the mating surface with the clutch there isn't much to be done about it.

By not much, that means you can do the super paranoid thing or just run it and fix it if the clutch or flywheel fails. As long as the teeth on the flywheel are good you should be fine.
