Right now I'm looking at a 93 3.0 MTX for about $3,000. It has a new starter, hoses, altenator, batt interior is in good condition. The body is in almost excelent condiiton just 2 dents. Runs well and has 102,000 miles

Dean,

Aside from the obvious, are there any telltale signs that the car has been cared for, or has it just been detailed recently?

It looks like it was cared for but not well cared for. Yes it was detailed well also. A mechanic has it now and has put some parts on it. Alas my darn luck I can't get it now anyway for I must re-alocate my $$ elsewhere. He did say that he would like to see it go to someone who knows what a SHO is and what it can do. He told me he is a former mech of Sanderson Ford.

Have him post a for sale ad on the forum and see what he gets, it only costs 10.00 and a whole lot of people will see it.

Thats what I paid for my 93 MTX w/ ~125k mi. It is also in good to excellent condition (cheapish respray on an already straight body), and had excellent maintenance records. The only money I have put into it that it needed (aside from regular maintenance) was an R-12 top off. That being said I think I paid a bit too much for it, I don't regret it though I love my car. If your funds get re-re-alocated back to the car would talk him down some.

Yeah, I got a fever and the only prescription is more cowbell...er, SHO's. Oh and when I made that last post I forgot to knock on wood... the starter just went out.
