So I guess the rear-main seal leak is not causing the CKS to fail...

i am having the same problem with my 94. i am leaning toward the cps or the ecm. i do know that the cam sensor does not give the spark because you can actually unplug it and it will run with out it, just harder to start until the computer finds # 1 cyl. that is all the cam sensor does, it is a # 1 indicator. i know this because my cam seal is leaking and i have to unplug mine sometimes.

oh yeah, on my 94 the tach is controlled by the cam sensor because when you unplug it the tach stops working and the ceck engine light stays on. and i also noticed that i have a front main seal leaking oil, that could be my problem(leaking oil on the cps) but it souds like we have the same problem.

My PIP (crankshaft position sensor) puts out erratic voltage. I have a new waterpump and PIP awaiting installation. I want to do the whole 60K service at once, so I have been aquiring parts slowly, but at really good prices.

Been SHOless for 6 weeks and counting. :frown: My 95 slushbox hit-me-again-Altima (sis's car) is superfast and outruns Ferraris and my slick green-machine 98 Windstar (Dad's work van) is a sure winner with the ladies. So why do I need to fix my SHO right away when I have those whips to cruise around in?!?

No seriously. It must be fixed. Now. Need time. Need more dough.

But I found the problem thanks to Pheonix SHO's writeup on testing the ignition system. :thumb:

NY for now, WY for real
I didn't have a drop of dirt or leakage on my Crank sensor when it went out.

One day it stalled while in cruise on the autobahn but kept driving like normal after a second.

Problem didn't happen again for 2 weeks when it wouldn't start, usually after driving and getting it warm.

You need to keep cruizin in the minivan. They make getting back into the SHO that much better... :thumb:

The green-machine's got the 200HP 3.8L. Eats school busses and tractor trailers for lunch. Spins up it's dry-rotted meats like you wouldn't believe and puts on a smokeshow better than should be legally allowed for a minivan. Corners like a greased pig on ice. Hauls.... big boxes!

Who needs an SHO when you've got a 'Star GL?!?!

(Missing my SHO more and more. :frown: )
