The vacuum reservoir (aka "the little black thingy" :biggrin:) is only there to hold some vacuum in the event that intake vacuum is low when you need to hold the butterflies closed (i.e. WOT under 3950 RPM). You can easily bypass the vacuum reservoir to eliminate it as a possible cause, if you haven't done that already. A normally functioning IMRC system with the reservoir bypassed will hold the butterflies closed at idle, but if you go WOT, it may lose too much vacuum and they may open early, hence the reason for the vacuum reservoir.
