Im unsure if I posted this into the right section or not, but was wondering what is the best process and best paint to use while painting the intake and the snakes to the intake. I need to know as soon as possible considering I need to finish this job off by not this upcoming friday but the friday after. All the help is well appreciated. Thank you before hand.

Thanks.. I'm going to be doing all of the work to the intake myself so hopefully all goes well. I'm thinking of doing the outside intake green with silver sho and the snakes all silver. I'm looking for a paint closest to a chrome like finish either that or I'm going to polish it the best I can. Should I use a clear coat on the intake or no?

From what I've gathered, most people say no. I believe the heat from the engine makes the clearcoat "yellow" and ruins your nice new paint job. :nut:

Just powdercoat it. For a car with that much money into it, why go halfass and use spray paint??

I have a guy that does awsome powdercoating for cheap. He did a bike frame for a friend of mine a few weeks back...real proffesional job.

If you really HAVE to have it done whatever.. But if your willing to have patience, and do it right the first time, youll be happier in the end.

Yeah, I definitely do wanna powdercoat Jay the thing is I need to make my intake look atleast presentable for hot import nights so I was thinking of doing my best job painting just for the show then I was going to have the intake powdercoated after because I have a spare one. I just need something thats going to look good for that night.

oh ok.

If you are using dark colors clearcoat should be fine. If you dont have tons of time on your hands, or patience..dont even bother trying to polish.

If I was to have something polished Id just spend the few extra bucks and have someone do it. Or you could always just leave your hood closed..

I never liked the look of JUST the intake done. If your gonna do the intake you gotta do everything else too. valve covers, timing covers, fuel rail etc..

How long does the powdercoating process usually take anyways??

Mine took about a week! It just matters how busy the shop is and etc! But Powder Coat is so much better then paint! Easy clean up too.

The turnaround for my intake was 2 days, but the owner personally did it after the shops closed.

And yes, powdercoat >>>>>> spraycan.

Shoguy I love the way how your intake looks.. Ya Jay I also do plan on doing everything else. Its just that everything takes so much time and so much money, lol. I'm spending so much on my sho its such an addiction. Jay are you going to the meet this sunday? I'm probably just going to do a quick clean of the intake and I'm gunna spray it and Im gunna do the intake itself a dark green type color and Im going to do the snakes in the brightest silver I can. Ill probably end up getting some spare timing covers and stuff like that so I can take the time of polishing them myself or have a shop do them but I'm not worried bout those before the show.
