It looks easy to install.

I have been looking on e-bay for one and what would be the different in the HKS model and the one that look the same that are universal?

I have all ways wanted to ad one ever since I bought my Sho. I have just been waiting for one made for the car.

I'd stay away from the ebay ones. There's a LOT of knock offs on there that are very prone to leaking. And trust me they do a great job of making them seem authentic.

SO..

How about a summary of exactly why one installs this....

Benefits???

Or is this just more NOISE fluff???

I have one on my SeaDoo.... It's purpose is to keep Supercharger from overheating and burning up bearings. Can't hear it though.

Re read my post, the mopar bov was machined incorrectly. Kind of hard to mess up three bolts unless you over tighten them. :) Upon inspecting it I noticed it didn't sit completely flush with the surge valve diaphram. I even swapped surge valves, tried RTV, etc. Other people where having the same issues around the same time...bad batch of them.

Also if you HKS blew off in vacuum (I assume you had the HKS) it needed to be adjusted. My Greddy only vents after 0 psi like it should.
And I really don't see the logic in the placement or having to still use the stock surge valve...the entire system is pressurized either way. Even more..the turbo is already pushing air to the throttle body right where the bov is, so instead of it traveling back and then venting it vents off right where the pressure point already is. I think it was just easier for mopar obviously integrate the bov in the turbo housing. Like I said I don't think it matters. Running both would be just fine too and you'd just have a more quiet aftermarket bov. I think it's completely fine being at the throttle body plus it reduces the length of the vacuum hose you use so you don't get bov lag thus resulting in surge in that case. I think the sole fact 700+whp SRT's use the bov in this location says something in itself. Every single aftermarket turbo requires a aftermarket bov...don't you think if this was a huge issue they'd integrate a surge valve in aftermarket turbo housings like the stock TD04 turbo? I've run as high as 27 psi and have zero issues with surge on my blocked off Stage 3 turbo and I'd definitely hear it if I did.
I just suggested he blocked off his stock recirc valves because I assumed he got this HKS for the sound as it does nothing for performance. With that being said it'd be much louder if he blocked these off.
Back on topic I'd like to hear a vid...I highly doubt though that the wife would ever want a loud bov on her car. It'd probably drive her nuts! lol

I was referring to the mopar bov blowing off in vacuum.

Listen, i'm not the engine and turbo charger expert. I am knowledgeable, but the info I am giving you is coming from the guy who calibrated the engine on the srt-4. If you asked him questions, he gave you truthful answers. He was even nice enough to flash stage 1 for a friend on a stock pcm. Actually it was a little more aggressive stage 1. I took his advice, because he is the most knowledgeable person about that car. This is one of the reasons why I wish Ford was more interactive with the community. I miss the old SRT chats and meet ups at the Chrysler Museum and Woodward. You got to speak with the people who created the car and pick their brains about it.

He said to keep the surge valve in place on that car if you use an aftermarket bov, which is why I did. Way back in 2003-2004 I used a block off plate for a short time until he told me that. Then I pulled it off and tossed it in the garbage.

Blackwire.... where did you purchase??? Did the "T" come with it??? Not sure what benefit I would get, seeing as I am running a 3-bar sensor and see boost levels of over 20. EXPLAIN....... Would this help keep my boost levels higher through out the WOT runs????

EBB, I bought it off ebay from a company my friend knows and promised was legit. All the hardware came with it, two T fittings, the gasket, the clamps, some small zip ties, and the mounting ******. Everything you need except for the vacuum hose and the hose to mount the BOV to. The HKS I bought was the universal one for obvious reasons. If you do this, yes, you should hold more boost on WOT runs, I datalogged before and after the install (same day, only hours apart, same spot) and I am holding more boost (.32V higher to be exact). The reason for this is because the part that I replaced with the HKS had to be leaking boost, numbers dont lie and it was enough to feel the difference to.

Just looked at HKS website, they don't list this BOV and don't have any listing for any application for any Ford product...

No, the BOV I got was the first Gen. They sell the 4th Gen now, its the same thing just some improvements, called Super SQV4 for All Applications (part # 71008-AK001).

Looked over this one and they list a lot of applications but nothing for the Ecoboost or any Ford engine....

It's a new platform and chances are only a handful of people would install an aftermarket bov on this car. Also this car is an automatic. A bov will work on any turbo charged car. Just install it somewhere in the system and run a vacuum line to it.

Has anyone thought of waist gates for the Gen 4 SHO?

I haven't dug around, but does this car use waste gate actuators to control the internal waste gates? I haven't seen anyone mention, but does the boost even drop off that much? Not sure if I would do it since the turbos are so small, and would probably just push them out of their efficiency range at higher rpm's.

So what is your take on it?

Since this car does not have a clutch the pisssss noise comes only when the foot lets off the gas pedal. I have the airaid installed where it is like a stereo sound, the sucking on the left side and the blowing out or ******* on the right. But it sounds just like one of those Subaru wrx cars. The sound gets louder when the rpm’s are the highest
