What did you do to block off the factory bov? If you didn't block it off then the HKS will be much more quiet...since your venting off to two sources now. At least thats how it works in my SRT-4 and I'm sure the same applies here.
Yeah it'd definitely make it much louder! I'm betting the two recirc valves are on the turbo themselves and you'd just take them off and bolt up a block off plate in their place. Again the way it works on my SRT-4. Just take off the stock surge valve and bolt up a block off plate. Not sure if anyone offers a block off plate but sure a shop could easily fab one up.
Terrible idea on the srt-4. You want the bov as close to the turbo as possible. I went into a lengthy discussion about this with the engine calibrator for the srt-4 in 2005. He said if you run an aftermarket bov keep the surge valve in place and let it do it's job.
How loud is the bov compared to a wrx or a neon srt-4 with a blow off valve? Does the black edition have the high pitch whistle sound? I had one on my srt-4 back in the day, but I think it was the purple insert, and I remember it being really high pitched.
Bob the BoV won't let you hold higher boost levels, they just stop blow back through the intake when you lift the throttle.Blackwire.... where did you purchase??? Did the "T" come with it??? Not sure what benefit I would get, seeing as I am running a 3-bar sensor and see boost levels of over 20. EXPLAIN....... Would this help keep my boost levels higher through out the WOT runs????
BTW, I've started talking to a local turbo shop here in Phoenix to see if they want to look at our platform for turbo upgrades. I've known one of the guys there for a long time and they seem interested.
We'll see
Well initially I went with a Mopar Bov that leaked...was badly machined. Probably 90% of the SRT's out there run a bov on their cold pipe and I've never seen a problem? I mean you can run both bov's, but it just makes the aftermarket one you bought much more quiet. Why would there be a problem running it here? I've never ran into boost problems or surge problems with this setup. I have a Greddy RS. I run 23 psi (for the time being hehe) and it's fine.
If your mopar bov was leaking, then it was installed incorrectly. I pushed 20-25 psi in the system without a single issue.
Being closer to the turbo will allow it to release all the air that didn't make it into the engine. When you put the bov that much farther up the piping it will allow some air to slam back into the turbo. I didn't care for it, because it was too loud and blew off in vacuum. When I did use a bov, I left the stock surge valve in place, and put the bov on the cold pipe. It does make it quieter, but it was still loud. Unless you were entering in the loudest blow off valve competition, I didn't see a reason to pull the surge valve.
