got code 1518; pulled engine cover; visual inspection of IMRC showed no broken or inoperating parts. Question: how much play should there be in cable at engine off? I've got enough so the cable end is quite loose. [end connected to butterfly controls]

I am not sure what the specified slack is, but mine is fairly tight.

The cable should have some tension on it. The end should not dangle on the connection. Perhaps the INSIDE end of the cable is either frayed or stuck on a bit of debris which is preventing it from returning completely. I would suggest opening up the box and checking out the IMRC internals for any types of interference to the cable.

went to actron web site [scanner maker], got exact meaning of code p1518 [runner not closing, bank 1], took apart intake down to head, cleaned out carbon build up, now runs like a SHO. THANKS for your responces. pass along the actron web site, gives great descriptions of codes, best I have found anywhere
