Don't really know if there would be much use or reason for it, but it has made me ponder a few times.

I don't think you can just cut a wire and get the camera to come on. There's more to it than that.

I am not a tech guy ether but I have also thought it would be nice to see behind you while going down the road. Problem is its an integrated system an there are a bunch of question that need to be asked before you can even figure it out how to get there. Is the camera always on but only accessed in reverse, does it it have a feed wire you can tap into, how do you view the feed, etc. My feed is into the entertainment system so for me the site listed could work or its possible for someone to just hack the system and come up with viewing page that way. Most anything can be done but I have no idea where this road even starts.

The reverse camera (sent to it by the Body Contol Module) and APIM are looking for a reverse message over the controller area network (can) from the transmission range sensor sent by the P.C.M. for sure you would have to my to the system to tell the car it's in reverse when it's not.

This in not a simple put power here sinerio for the camera to work. This would have to be a lot as noted above. Not sure if that is compatible with both sync gen 2 and 3.

That's not a full explanation of the system but your welcome.

Modifying the electrical system and adding features in these newer cars are near impossible unless you now how to write software for the systems. And I don't know how

I do not consider myself smart. Everyone has something they are good at. I have experience. I read the books. Help out when I can the best I can.

By all means what I know just scratches the surface. There are much better techs out there. I do my part. I try to be a little better every day (some more than others) I learn and I help others learn.
