Well I am in college right now and my car was sitting in the parking lot for a week and a half. I started it up and everything purred just like it always has. I let it warm up and pull away. I noticed that while coasting to a stop the rpm's would stay at the coasting level. Like how the vss senses speed and keeps the rpm's at like 1200 until you come to a stop. Then they usually settle to 900. Well this didn't happen. It stayed up. I kept driving on it and after about 25 mins of driving it finally settled back down to 900. Does anyone know why this happened? I was going to scan my codes but i didn't have time. Does it sound like my vss is going? I have an 89 mtx by the way. Thanks.

So the RPMs were staying up after you came to a stop? I don't understand what you're asking...

If thats the case, the computer might have just been relearning the idle. If it was appreciably colder when you started the car today than before, it may have needed that long to figure out its idle.
