Ok, the plot thickens. I took the car to a trusted radiator,A/C shop and left there for them to check the compressor. I called six hours later and was told the compressor was running fine, doing what it should. The lines were the right pressure also, so the tech? says it must be my ECU, no charge. Hmmm. I get in the car to start it, and now the battery light is glowing. I drive up to their shop, go in and ask them about it. They don't have a clue. Fine, I didn't pay anything, but I did have them retighten the neg battery cable they left loose. I drive to the same electrical shop across town, a different guy hooks up his diagnostic machine and says, "The alternator's bad." Ok, I say, you told me last week the alternator was charging like a bull, it must be the compressor. He says things electrical just go out. It's just an unhappy friggin coincedence. The radiator shop which drove my car into their shop without a light glowing said nothing about the now glowing light. Can any of you envision any scenario that may have ruined my alternator with an A/C machine, or is it truly just my as of late bad luck on my favorite car? I'm mad at the impotence of my ability to make a line of incidents that lead to this condition.

The AC compressor will cause a healthy drag on the motor, that is normal.

I doubt your compressor ever had a problem to begin with. Is your alternator original? Are all the wires connected to it properly?

If it is connected properly and all the wires are tight, it is probably a problem.

They are a wear item. No big deal.

My 91 was idling terribly and dying, so I started with the air intake and replaced everything up to the T.B.. After checking and replacing Alt, E.C.U., Fuel Filter, Battery nd Cables, almost replaced A/C components, T.B.S. (twice in case new one was bad from factory). After all that, I took it to a shop where it was kept for 3 days and diagnosed. I didn't have gauges for testing fuel pressure, but they did. Turns out my Fuel Regulator was in need of replacement. Now, my favorite car is running like new and I couldn't be happier. I guess with all the maintenance items I replaced are at least new and shouldn't be a consideration for the next gremlin that inhabits my car. Thanks to every one of you out there that helped me with suggestions. I do love this site. Almost time for a donation. I would hate to see this band of brothers and sisters go away. Again, thank you to everyone who wrote back and gave me advice. A special thank you to Mike who always is patient and helpful by letting me ask him questions over the phone.

I didn't read all replys but I took the top bolt out, and placed my dead blow hammer against the valve portion the whacked it with a real hammer, that broke it loose, then I used a normal allen to remove the bottom bolt a quarter turn at a time. pain in the butt.
