I had studder/hesitation after running the car for 25 miles/30 mins. Well I pulled the intake cleaned it, Cleaned the T/B/ Cleaned the MAF - NAPA didn't have gaskets in Ct. ANYWHERE and it was going to take 3 days to get some in so I re-used the old ones (they weren't that bad). I also had a 327 code (EGR feedback signal is/was low
) so I changed the DPFE sensor and while I was down there I installed a new heavy duty T-Stat.
Well this is where I am today - The car now only can run maybe 10 mins. headbang and the studder/hesitation is worse then ever ! shrug The secondaries open up all over the rpm spectrum and when I get back after a road test and put the car in park it idles over 1,000 rpms then down to 300 and stalls !
I know everything points to a vacuum leak ?
HELP !!

Hey scott, it sounds to me that you haven't got all of your vaccum lines in the back plugge in, or that they're not plugged in properly. The biggest suspicion sp? of this is the secondaries opening up irraticly. I'm not an expert but i'm sure the experts will chime in sometime soon! Furthermore, did you make sure the "nostrils" for the EGR (inside of the intake) were nice and clear? Mine were so plugged that it took more than just intake cleaner. I had to use a wire hanger. Visit shotimes.com for the writeup. Good Luck.

When I reuse the intake gaskets I will spray clear high temp engine paint on them immediately before installing them.

That is not a prudent thing to do.

What good is that? And, is it even a good idea at all?

The secondaries are directly effected by vacuum - right ? Well if I had a leak then wouldn't they be on all the time ?
