I have a 2011 SHO that has 174k on the odometer. I could just look up the value on KBB, but I’ve done a lot of work on it, so I’m not sure how to price it.
All of the work that’s been done is stock. I replaced the EPAS steering rack, the lower control arms and brakes recently. But the main thing is the engine.
Three years ago, the water pump failed dumping all of the coolant into the block. The motor was toast.
So I found one as Fraser engines that was remanufactured and has an upgraded oil pump, water pump and a few other do-dads. At the time, I replaced the turbos as well. This was at 115k.
The engine came with a 5 year 100k mile warranty. There are still two years and 40k miles left on the warranty.
What value would you say that new motor, with a warranty, adds to the vehicle, if anything?
Thanks for any input.

I'd say whatever you paid for the engine (excluding labor), divide it by 100 and multiply it by 40... if any.
What you did should help you sell it faster vs any other similar ones but doesn't really add much to the end price.

I agree with this. It's worth what you can get obviously but a reman with 60k is hard to quantify. It's not a new engine and it's worth nothing with a blown up motor so? Research and see if you can get a few more pesos. It's usually not a big value adder but.. this market who knows

Are you absolutely positive that the remaining engine warranty is transferrable if you sell the vehicle? If not, it probably won't add to the vehicle value (other than current market uppers in general) since the NADA / KBB estimates assume the engine is in working condition consistent with the overall vehicle condition. But to the right buyer, just knowing the engine has fewer miles than the rest of the car may be worth something, however finding that buyer could be tough.

And also be aware that the used car market is falling pretty quickly at this point in time, and the books are behind the curve. So whatever KBB tells you is high compared to the actual market.

For one example, we had a client this week wanting to trade a 18 Explorer with normal miles. KBB said the trade value is $41k. The actual retail market here for that vehicle is $38k so the trade value is no where near 41.
