Seems to me that you have either

A- Bad sender unit. You'd need to buy and install the ENTIRE assembly to fix the problem. Several hundred smackers $.

B- Bad wire (or fuse?) somewhere. Either at the dash or to the pump. You can make sure all wires are connected to the dash and fusebox. To check the wires to the pump you have to drop the fuel tank and open it up.

I'd SUPER HIGHLY recommend draining as much gas as possible whenever you have to drop the tank. Makes things MUCH easier.

Good luck! :thumb:

To access the tank you can make an access door under the back seat, intructions are on my website. http://www.shophoenixproject.com/

You can do a few things to check what the problem is. First make sure that the car has some fuel in it (not full and not empty). Then access the sender unit and disconnect the wire that goes to it (and thus connects to the guage). Now turn the key to the on position. The guage should read either full or empty. Now, use a jumper wire as needed and ground the wire to a metal part on the frame or something. The guage should now read the opposite of before (if it read full, it should now read empty and vise versa).

If the guage passes this test, then the problem is your sending unit.

If the guage does not pass, then the problem is either the guage or the wiring between the guage and the sender. Next go the the guage and repeat the same test if possible. If the guage works correctly this time, then you know something is wrong somewhere with the wiring. If the guage still does not work, then you know for sure that the guage is the problem.

At any rate, the most likely culprit is the sender unit, but you might as well check before you replace the whole thing.
