subframe is sitting next to the car i've been spraying the **** out of it with engine degreaser, and am planning on spraying it with black spray paint to keep the build up down and to clean it up a bit. also have been spraying most of the brackets that came out of the engine bay, and the sway bar brackets and coil pack. :****:

gonna go bolt hunting before work hopefully it ammounts to something. took off the pass side bracket completely...

still nothing.

be even more thankfull your not pulling an AX4S out of a 2000 Windstar like I'm doing yesterday and today. What a PITA!! I think pulling a SHO AX4$ is easy compared to this crap

best of luck finding the remaining thing hanging you up.

1-2 shift servo + pistons
2-3 shift servo + pistons
low band
intermediate band
all 7 clutchpacks (all that was left was the rivets)
tranny chain
all the drums
half of the friction surfaces
main sprag
pump
rear planetary
torque convertor (destroyed internally, splines missing)

it's been in the shop for almost 2 weeks now...

well i got her bolted up monday night. got her finally started. now i'm having all sorts of problems. she smokes like no ones business and smoke is pouring out both exhaust pipes. it's whiteish gray smoke. i don't think she's burning oil. she also has an ungodly exhuast leak from the front manifold to y ******. she has inconsistent idle and a very high idle speed. almost 4k at idle. any clues? i'm really begining to get upset over the whole thing. i just want my baby back to normal...

Ok, after reading your post to SHOTimes, I'm sorry to say your tranny needs to go back to the shop.

Unfortunately, even the most "rock solid" tranny rebuilds can be a dud right out of the shop. The only way to really avoid this is to use a tranny shop that has a tranny dyno where the tranny can be run through it's paces for several hours before being reinstalled in a car. Even the best tranny shops can give you back a bad tranny. We recently had a tranny shop that we trust completely and have never before had a problem with rebuild a GM THM350 tranny, which is about the simplest tranny in the world to rebuild, and it came back worse than before the rebuild. If your tranny feels like it's slipping, it's slipping.

Another thing you mention in your SHOTimes post is that you have a '95 AX4N tranny. If that is true, then you have a SLO tranny, NOT a SHO tranny. The AX4N was not available for the SHO until the '96-'99 SHO's, and they are not compatible with the V6 SHO bellhousing pattern, electronics, etc.

Since you seem to have other motor issues, you might want to address those before bringing the car back to the tranny shop (tranny shops love to blame tranny operational issues on anything but the tranny when they can). Then bring it back and see if you can get them to do the R&R labor the second time around since the screwup is their's.

well i know for a fact that the motor is running hot (t-stat less than 3 months old, but haven't ruled it out yet) and there is a definite misfire in bank 2 most likely the result of bad plug/wire/oil in plug well  . I have new valve covers with seals waiting on plugs and taylor 8mm wires :****: . so as soon as i get that done i'll take her in. i think the VSS not being connected is the main problem. it is NOT accessible through the bottom of the car  but i think i may be able to reach it through the top. i think i can fit my arm through the space between the motor and the fire wall. i REALLY :madflame: don't wanna take off the Y pipe and drop the subframe again...

any suggestions?

If you have skinny enough hands, you may be able to get to the VSS just by dropping the y-pipe. You could also try getting to it via the pass wheel well and removing the rear motor mount.

well put new autolite APP3294's (i got them for free) in two days ago, and removed the horrendous motorcraft plugs that (in the back) appear to be the original plugs! there were 4 double plat and 2 single plat/copper plugs. also siphoned about 1 qt of oil out of my plug wells. put everything back together (and replaced some hoses with yellow silicone ones :) )and fired her up and after a min or so the harsh vibrations stopped, misfire gone. i took her out on the road for a quick test. she was doing much better. untill she stalled out on the way home. starter, battery and cables were fine. her idle was low and almost lopey.
possible culprit = fuel pump.
looks like it's time for a 155 walbro...
