How many Remote codes does/did Ford use?

The keyless entry for my 97' and my little borthers' 96' SLO both open both cars. We only found this out recently when he tried to pop his trunk and mine popped too. I suppose it's not a major issue, just a slightly annoying when I come out of the house and my car is already unlocked. So the question is, how many codes are there for Fords? Is this something that anyone else has run into?

First, how many remotes do you have available between you and your brother? If there are three, then the problem is easily fix-able (technical term!)... Get the program proceedure for the remotes off this site, I've used it and it works, I just can't remember it totally off the top of my head... I think it is turning the key on and off three times (ending in RUN), then hitting lock, then unlock, then hitting the remote that you need to program (the locks will cycle if the procedure is correct), then turning the key off... I think that's it...

Anyway, if you only program one FOB, and it isn't one of the two that are identical, your car will only open with the one, and his will open with the duplicates (OR THE OTHER WAY AROUND)... When you program just one, the others will be erased...
