I've been having a few issues with my 89. 99% of the time it starts and runs great. but the last couple of weeks, usually after its hot, it stalls out. happens at anytime, though mostly at idle waiting at a light. it has happened while cruising though. wouldn't be a problem except that it just refuses to fire up after. if i let it cool for 5-10 it'll more than likely start again. but yesterday that wasn't the case. it took a couple hours till it started and i had to get towed out of a left turn lane by a kind mexican and his dakota. i'd like to avoid this again. i know i need plugs. i'm doing them today. i was just wondering if anybody else has had this issue and would know more directly where to look. this is my only "working" vehicle and is needed to get to school. i got 3 days to make it reliable again, for hopefully a minimal amount of cash.

Crank sensor is being leaked on by your water pump.. I see a 60k in your future!

EDIT: At a minimum you need a new water pump/seal.. While your in there you might as well replace the sensor before it fails on its own and check you timing belt..

none of the crank sensors that I have had fail were due to leaking water pumps, all just failed and the symptoms were just like the op described.
