horrible idleing

once in a while when i start the car, it will start idling at like 500 rpm and then go up to 1k and then down to 200rpm, i think it might be the idle air sensor. any other possibilities

Sounds like the TPS or associated wiring to me.

Might as well try cleaning the IAB.
