Anyone ever look at cutting out a scoop on the hood over top of the Airaid or similar intakes? I realize that for a daily driver that wouldn't be a fantastic idea for water purposes... Curious if anyone has done mock-ups for that... From what I have read these cars struggle for air above 5500 Rpms... And suffer from heat soak with the Airaid setup.. Two birds one stone maybe?

For performance I don't think it would help. From what I understand these engines get all the cold air they can get with stock set up from air box to turbos. I have heard of dyno runs with air cleaner completely removed. Unfiltered air directly into stock turbo intake tubes. The result was very little difference, meaning no restrictions. I don't think the air would be colder because the stock inlet is just inches below where a proposed hood scoop would go, same air same location. I do think a scoop would look realy cool though on our cars. If I had anything even close to being called computer skills I would do a mock up to see what one would look like. I don't know how to do that stuff. The best this hillbilly can do is this.LOL.20160404 135030 zpso7ggt4vn

Hood vents have definitely been done, bpd's SHO was probably the first for this Gen. Hood scoops, don't thing I have seen that, might not look so good with the power hoods these SHOs have.

I was thinking about vents as well...hmmm...

Unfortunate about there being no real performance gains from vents or hood scoop..

Still might be fun to mock one up...

There is actually real-world gain from vents: keeps engine bay cooler, in turn improving performance and powertrain longevity along with aesthetics. Hood scoop should be able to achieve similar results if placed and routed properly.
