He's talking about the structual bracing on the underside of the sable hood is not designed the same as an SHO hood and comes closer & maybe even rubs the intake. Not exactly ideal, but if you're modding it and making a cowl, then perhaps you can conquer that problem at the same time. Question is why use a steel hood? If you can afford it I'd go fiberglass from cincySHO or something and lose a whole lot of weight. If you're on a budget then I commend the self-fabricated cowl. Hope this clears things up.

Hey smartass why don't you vote... VOTE I post my sig to help answer questions not to take up space. Matter of fact unless a moderator tells me to shorten it, I'll modify it however I please :p

Have you ever actually made a post to the forum that has contributed in any way? You seem to spend a lot of time criticizing others, and now you seem to think you're a moderator. I know the real moderators have deleted a number of your other posts, perhaps it's time to find someplace else to spout your misery.

XtremeSHOCreations, a Sable hood will mount up correctly and look the same as a SHO hood, but the problem as has been mentioned is that one of the braces on the underside will lie almost directly on top of the DIS module on the intake. One slam of the hood could shatter the DIS. It's probably not too hard to modify the bracing to sufficiently clear the DIS, and if you're going to work on the hood at school to add a cowl, then you can probably pretty safely use a Sable hood as long as you ensure good clearance. Good luck! :)

Well your all right and wrong.

A Sable hood is the SAME exact hood. What they do is cut a brace out for the SHO. A slo hood is made for the Taurus which has fifferent fenders (sable) custom bumper cover( thanks again Sable) and the head lights and mounting panel are once again taken from a (sable)

FYI, I believe Eric S's (SHOTime) white 94 had a SLO hood on it, not a sable hood. It was recessed down into the bay, not flat.

FYI. I didn't take too close of a look at it before the car was parted, sorry.

Fred, you are probably correct,it depends on which Gen is in question. The way it`s been told,a Sable hood fits the Gen I and the SLO hood fits the Gen II,bracing not taken into account.

From first hand experience, I can say at least that a Gen II taurus hood, 95 I believe, will fit a 94 atx with no rubbing or anything.. The guy wanted the newer style SE hood, with the hood lines in it, and he mounted it/painted it, no problems whatsoever... SO.. Good Luck, but all I can say is that it did work when he did it!

Does anybody take into consideration the different engine locations in MTX vs ATX? Just a curious thought. Anybody know the actual weight difference between steel and fiberglass hoods?

Here's any interesting thing on hoods. My hood's only obvious feature is the bulge going straight down the center. Now, I parked next to another 89 (I also have an 89) a while ago, and its hood had 2 bulges, each going to a side of the grill (like a sort of mini-cowl hood). What's up with this? Who has what hood?
